If California is so short of water why don't they turn off "Joe Geever, California policy coordinator for the Surfrider Foundation, an environmentalist group that has fought the Carlsbad plant for years in court". It's amazing that a person can make enough money working for an environmentalist group trying to make the environment unlivable that they don't care what water costs. Or that there are enough people living in California giving money to the groups that don't want them to live in California to make those groups profitable.

Why don't they just use all the water melting off the glaciers and such (Greenland, etc). This way people get fresh water and our ocean don't get screwed up as much.

I don't get the fascination with Mexican Coke - it's farking sugar water with a bit of caramel flavor and a lot of sugar ad a little bit of caffeine. It's not even enough caffeine to do anything for me but the American Coke has about the same amount as far as I can tell.


It's much more expensive than American Coke too and probably hasn't even been transported as far - or maybe it has. If I want caffeine I drink coffee from people who get paid dirt for their troubles. If I want sugar - well, I don't really want sugar much so I don't know.

HFCS tastes like dirt... or, it has an "earthy, gritty" flavor that just doesn't appeal to me at all. After having gone without for a while, you can decidedly tell the difference between the old school, full cane sugar coke, and the HFCS coke.

For people who don't want more than a single soda in a day, it's a great alternative that has less overall impact on health... minimizing the harm for the maximum pleasure gained.

Make sure the water (AND water-based drinks, including tea and coffee) you have in Mexico came from a bottle, and if you have a moderately healthy immune system, and you will be fine. But use tap water, and Montezuma will take it as an invitation.

warning for all who will have the desalinized water in their taps: install whole-house water filters, and clean them out a LOT. Or replace all of your plumbing way more often than necessary and learn how to use muriatic acid as a cleaning agent, your choice.
