Thats a pretty standard way of doing it these days, even in games.

I love it when they balance balls on their noses and applaud themselves.

why do people insist on remaking the classics:

Is this going to be one of those exploitation films that ends with the poor seals being clubbed and made into fur coats by Al-Qaeda?

2011-10-16 01:35:35 AM
sort of want..

2011-10-16 03:28:26 AM
But I'd pay to see Charlie Sheen getting clubbed.

Realistic doesn't mean it's going to be great, subby.

Ever see movies with them real-life MMA guys?

Can't act for shiat and even their action scenes look dull as fark.

It's why American Ninja and Gymkata are cinematic classics, yo.

2011-10-16 03:46:45 AM
That's hot.

2011-10-16 03:47:53 AM
What a bad idea. All we need is one guy believing his own press and people will get killed.

2011-10-16 03:50:49 AM
So do I have to pay for a ticket to see this movie?
Because it sounds like the US Navy financed the film with my money already.

2011-10-16 03:55:23 AM
And despite it's apparent authenticity, the trailer manage to cover just about every action movie cliche in the book.

I'll watch it, should have some good action scenes.

This will either be awesome or ASS. It really depends on the amount of melodrama they inject into it. Unfortunalty that video made it look like there will be a shiat ton of melodrama, but I have my hopes. A military movie that actualy follows military doctorine would be nice.

/And one more movie that shows a Greek phalanx or a Roman maniple break ranks and solo it and I'm gunna lose my shiat.

Yeah but the problem is that just because someone knows how it works in real life, doesn't mean that the stuff they wrote will make for good watching.

Well, if it's being plugged by Hot Air, we can only assume it will have at least the box office success of Sarah Palin's "Undefeated"...

I'm getting sick and tired of hearing about Navy SEALS.

If this is what America stands for, we've failed.

The Navy SEALs, ( sleep, eat and lift) are the only special ops community with enough time on their hands to be able to make a movie.

So sick and tired of hearing about Navy SEALS you ... voluntarily read a story about them?

I was under the impression that Hot Air followers were more concerned with the rights of active al Qaeda leaders.

I assume there will be a recruiter waiting at all the theater exits.

Well I hope this kicks ass. They deserve it.

That may be the coolest thing I've ever seen.

2011-10-16 08:37:23 AM
If it means I won't see guys run around with their finger on the trigger while swinging their weapon all over the damn place, I might check it out.

2011-10-16 08:42:35 AM
I was with it until they fired a M72 LAW that had a smoke trail and caused a technical to flip end over end. WHY?!?!?!?!

2011-10-16 08:50:06 AM
Did you guys miss the part where Roselyn Sanchez was going to be in the movie?

That's a victory for everyone.

The Rock.

With the exception of 3 of them, all the Navy Seals portrayed were active Seals based out of Coronado. I think they were instructors at the BUDs.

That's right.

These guys are current, active duty Seals, not some guys who retired 20 years ago. This movie is going to be awesome as fark, if for no other reason than getting an inside look at how they operate.

That wasn't an M72, it's a M72A6. Low penetration with an improved blast effect.

Or sword fighting. I LOVE sword sports. Real, authentic medieval sword work is beautiful to me. The counter cuts, throws, and general nastiness of some of the locks is just wonderful to see executed by two fighters who know what they're about.

The problem is, the fights don't look very pretty unless you know what's going on. There's an economy of motion and it's fast. Like MMA ground work. You really have to know what to look for to see all. Not nearly as exciting as stuff in the newer Zorro movies.

I think it looks pretty cool.

Looks like they just decided to copy all the memorable parts of COD.

Didn't really even see anything in terms of tactics. I mean shoot, that room clearing scene they show towards the end of the clip was retarded. Something suspicious in his hand? Two in the dome takes a heck of a lot less time than trying to push everyone back out the door.

Looked like a dead man's switch to me, so shooting him wouldn't have really 'helped'.

//Only seen this sort of thing on TV so I could be totally wrong.

The thing that doesn't sit right with me is that if these are active duty SEALS, why are they putting their names and faces out there in the limelight? That doesn't seem wise.

Also, I will echo what others have said. You know a bad actor when you see one. The dramatic scenes(and judging from the previews, there are quite a few) could be painfully bad.

There really isn't any time to process that sort of thing, not with everything else that has to be in your mind when making a shoot decision. You enter a room, there's a guy with something in his hand raising it up, you shoot and see what it was later.

/unless it really was a dead man's switch
//then the CSI-types figure out what it was amidst all the blood and body parts

WOO!! More mindless military propaganda from "liberal" Hollywood!

I am so utterly sick of the constant military worship in this country.

ACEllis: I was with it until they fired a M72 LAW that had a smoke trail and caused a technical to flip end over end. WHY?!?!?!?!

Movies completely ruined the military experience for generations of young men. I still remember the first time I saw a real grenade go off... I thought, "Wait... That's all? Did it go off?"

Looks like a fun "man"-film.
Explosions, guns, comradery, epic music.

Should be very successful and accessible.

Yeah, but isn't that kind of balanced out by CounterStrike and other video games? "Gah! how did I get hit? I was a good five feet from that grenade!"
