Portions of India were still under British rule in 1911. Also, just because I'm born in one place doesn't mean I can't move somewhere else and become a citizen of that location.

If he was 100, his hip would have broken during the run.

I second shenanigans.

I'm pretty sure breaking a 100 year old record is news.

To be fair, I'm thinking there are no 100 year old sprint records.

Most modern and old records are not compatible because of electronic starting and stopping being far more reliable than some dude holding a timer in his hand like it used to be.

Perhaps, but it's tough to argue that sprinters are not faster today then they were 100 years ago...Sprinters are faster today then they were 20 years ago.

That's only because we didn't let the black guys run against us 100 years ago.

srhp29: , I'm thinking there are no 100 year old sprint records.

Correct, but there is a world track and field record that's over 100 years old, assuming you're willing to make some allowances as to what events you look at. The world record in the standing long jump is 107 years old. Granted it's not an even that's contest any more, but there you have. Also the records for standing high jump and triple jump are around the 100 year mark.

And for the fun of it, the longest standing individual running record in recent times was in the 25,000 and 30,000 meters, which were set in 1981 and broken this year, so the records stood for 30 years and a couple months. interestingly enough, all field event word records are over 15 years old. The youngest of the records being in the javelin, which was set in 1996.

So the records he broke were all for the 100+ age category. Why do I think that there isn't much competition in this group? It would be interesting to actually know what time he actually got compared to a world-class sprinter in his prime to get perspective.

But I'm sure he would whoop my ass in a race, kudos to him.

They timed him with a sundial ... I think I can take him in the 100 meters and I am sure I can whoop his ass in Mixed Martial Arts.

Dude is afraid to face me.
