Gazza was pretty good back in the day. That move leading to his goal against Scotland in Euro '96 is probably my favorite highlight from English soccer.

Jim McMahon (of the Bears) used to down several beers before games. One time when he was quite injured, he downed 4 beers back in the locker room at halftime, came out and had one of his greatest games of the Season. That season they would go 16 and 1 then massacre everyone in the playoffs; then win the Superbowl in stunning fashion.

Like it or not, many of the best athletes in multiple sports, depended on alcohol and other drugs to loosen up, have confidence, and play the greatest games of their career.

Wade Boggs was a miller lite chugging machine. At nearly every moment he was drinking them.

I was going to say, at least he's honest.

TFA expresses wonder that he drank 13 beers after a loss, but also says he was drinking 4 bottles of whiskey a day, implying some sort of equivalence.

Math is hard.

Drunk math is *hic* harder.

I'm just amazed that for all that he didn't get sick during a game. That's some addict if you can take all those drugs but still function physically.

4 bottles of whiskey and 2 just to stop the shakes? I was a drunk who at one point was hospitalized with a .5 BAC and I couldn't imagine downing 4 bottles. I remember needing a pint of liquor to stop the shakes but damn. I know soccer is boring but damn.

FTA: 'It is beyond belief that a TV documentary has allowed an interview with a kid of 12 to be broadcast like this,' he protested. 'How can a 12-year-old understand the things I've gone through? He's 12 for God's sake.'

He can understand, you thick Geordie twat, because he was on the receiving end of your drunken, drugged out bullshiat. Jeebus.

9 brandies?

I don't give a fizzuck if you are drinking the finest brandy ever distilled. 9 of any of them would leave you with the heaviest, most brain splitting headache halfway through the game.

Maybe the yayo helped, but damn!
