My dog goes as a fetishist every Halloween. All he wears is a collar.

I don't care what the article says, Gus (a cat) is going as a Stormtrooper again.

/Even if I have to drive the 159 miles round trip to dress him myself.

Screw ya'll, my bunny is gonna be an angel again. Or a superhero.

It'll last for ten minutes before she manages to sneak out of her harness that the costume is attached to 'cause she's smart, and a few kids will get an awesome kick out of it, and after that she's just gonna go as Esquilax.

Also, one day a year, fine.

If you have 20+ different outfits for your pet that you force them to wear even though it's the damn summer and they obviously hate it? Yeah, stop that shiat.

I love my yellow lab. She has much to much class and dignity than to ever tolerate that shiat.

/when at the dog park she refuses to even acknowledge the existence of the yappy little ankle biters. Prefers to hang out with the tennis ball crowd

Made costumes out of thrift store lambskin coats for my malamutes. They dressed as wolves in sheep's clothing for the past fourteen years. My boy passed two weeks ago today. Don't have the heart to even look at the pictures, much less dress up the girl for the neighborhood kids this Halloween.

Dressing up your pet is abuse.

theknuckler_33: Dressing up your pet is abuse.

Depends on how much they mind. And don't say that if they mind in the slightest, then its still abuse, because that definition pretty much means if you don't let them eat off the table its abuse, or if you force them to spend time alone when you leave the house its abuse.

/has never dressed a pet up.

If you have a pet and you let it off the table I'd say that reflects more poorly on the owner than the pet itself. And as for leaving the pet alone in the house, that depends of course on the type of pet and how long you leave your house.

But me personally I'm all for loving animals and whatnot but people need really stop treating their pets anthropomorphically. That's what little children are for.

I don't really think it is possible to treat children anthropomorphically.

Children are for people who are too dumb to realize they can get more love from a cheaper animal with far less aggravation.

Also, your opinion. It's just an opinion.

/ no children
// dog and two cats
/// none of them get dressed up because they hate it

Modifying your dogs behaviour (for the good of course) is generally considered the act of a good pet owner. Teaching them not to eat off the table would fall into that category. "Forcing" them to spend time alone at home is pretty necessary for their care since it is required for me to have a job and make money to buy food and medical care for them. Dressing them does nothing for them at all, even if they don't mind it. "

We just get a can of white spray hair paint and put a line down the back of our black dog... instant skunk with no dog humiliation.

Therapy ferret?

One of my cats would - appropriately - attempt to rip my arms off if I tried to put her into an outfit.

The other cat is a calico and already looks like a Halloween decoration.

We got that costume for my 60 lb. boxador, too. When he wears only the hat, he looks like a klansman. I'm going to have him go as Sherrif, the Racist Dog this year.

Which makes sense, because my dog really hates black people. I have no idea why, I didn't teach him that.

We've dressed our beagle up for Halloween every year since he was a puppy. He's not always crazy about being in costume, but he sure loves the attention he gets from all the cute little trick-or-treaters who come by, so I'd say it's worth it.

I generally agree with subby, but Chewbacca dog is pretty damned funny, and with minimal trauma to the critter. I like it.

My basset hound loves dressing up for Hallowe'en. She even loves Trick or Treating. I put saddlebags on her and have her walk up to the door while in costume. She was a bit weird about it at first, but once she realized that these nice people were putting free candy into her pouches, she became a lot more enthusiastic...

Animals are not meant to wear clothing, and if you dress up your pets I automatically hate you and wish your pet would turn on you and bite your face off.
