It's an electronic cigarette. Really its not that bad for the kid, the coffee is probably worse.

No one actually has any clue how safe those things are.

You got to admit. She looks way cooler than most babies.

That's nothing. There are babies born everyday that are already addicted to crack.

The kid is juicing!

I'm curious how anyone is going to prove what was in the cup.

Yeah, they do. They use propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin, or polyethylene glycol 400 that is atomized for inhalation. All three are common food additives and propylene glycol is classified GRAS (generally recognized as safe) and is the leading liquid base for asthma inhalers and nebulizers.

Sure, nicotine is addictive, and it's pretty stupid to give stimulants to toddlers, but an e-cigarette is much safer for the kid than a burning tobacco cigarette.

i see this kid eventually wearing patches, chewing nicotine gum, and
smoking . . . all at the same time

/pretty sure all three at once would be pretty toxic, maybe deadly
//this kid has the early start he needs to build up the necessary tolerance for that advanced nicotine abuse
///mom of the year candidate?

Or it could be a regular burning plant cig photographed by a camera/phone with a crappy IR filter. My webcam shows the cherry as blue like that when I use it.

Yes, food additives (which we can save discussion on whether inhaling them may have any health effects for another time) AND nicotine.

No doubt that all the other crap in a cigarette is even more damaging than nicotine alone.

Fact remains, no one knows if the nicotine alone can pose a significant health risk. Opinions are aplenty, but no one has studied it thoroughly enough to know one way or the other.

Either way, this is one cool baby.

Bathia_Mapes: What kind of drug is that?

It's a "wakefulness promoting agent," used mainly to treat excessive daytime sleepiness, which I suffer from. No matter how much sleep I'd get at night, I'd still yawn throughout the day, fall asleep randomly and without control at work (not narcolepsy, got checked for that... not sleep apnea either).

It really has changed my life.

I'm sure we'll know after people have been smoking them long enough to do longitudinal studies on them.

I wondered about the blue tip on the cigarette also. E-cigarettes glow blue or red at the tip when you take a drag. (I own one.) They don't stay lit. Also, I noticed what looked like smoke coming from the cigarette when the kid put it down in his/her lap. E-cigarettes don't do that.

There's no smoldering fire in an E-cig. Plus, they don't make real smoke, just water vapor.

So, I'm not sure what the kid was 'smoking'.

Even so, if it is an e-cig, it's still nothing for a baby to have since it does contain a nicotine solution.

I'm glad there are medications for problems like that.

Maybe you guys have different monitor settings than I do, but I definitely saw smoke. Check the video, when the cig passes by the black background.

Don't be an idiot. They use well known chemicals in a well understood process. What is so farking mystifying? Chemistry, how the fark does it work?

Are they good for you? NO! RETARD, they are a nicotine delivery system. Nicotine is a poison, so no they aren't good for you.

HOWEVER, they are FAR FAR FAR FAR better for you than an actual cigarette. Mainly because while they do deliver nicotine, they do NOT deliver most of the really bad shiat that you get from actually smoking. You know, like tar and uria, and secondary chemicals as the side effect of combustion.

Furthermore, it is not necessary to load them with nicotine at all. I have seen "decaf" versions that include flavors like Coffee, or Mocha, and have no nicotine content at all. So unless you can show evidence that inhaling vapor is somehow dangerous, you need to STFU with this scare monger bullshiat.

Are there long term health effects? Probably. Are these health effects even remotely comparable to inhaling burning plant matter? No, not even remotely.

It's OK, she only smokes after sex.
