Not surprising since the producer hired Spiner as Puck in his other show, Gargoyles, and he likes to reuse voice actors.

He retired as the Joker. Arkham Asylum was to be his last stint, but he extended it to Arkham City and that's it.

Brent Spiner could make a decent follow-up.

...as long as they allow him to use contractions.

Mmm. Alyssa Milano as Poison Ivy. I'd defoliate it.

yadumey: He retired as the Joker.

Why in the hell did he do that?!? A) He's awesome at it, and B) It's not like he's been doing much else the past twenty years.

Maybe he's made enough money to comfortably retire and he feels like he's played out the Joker character as far as it goes. Just a guess.

He said somewhere in an interview that doing the voice was really starting to hurt his throat.

/Mel Blanc would only voice Yosemite Sam on a Friday because he'd need the weekend to recover his voice.

Why does this Joker make me think of a Techicolor David Tennant?

2011-10-14 05:53:14 PM
Having had Batman: TAS as "the" Batman show in my formative years, I must admit to a bias against anyone who isn't Mark Hamill.

That said, I thought John Dimaggio did well in Under The Red Hood, so maybe letting other people take a crack at it is healthy.

The alternative is no Joker, and that's no alternative at all.

More likely type-casting has overwhelmed his abilities

People who like to act -- act

I bet he likes to act

But -- I like him -- proof will be if he can pull off a joker laugh and not be seen as a copy of data's laugh (I'd quote the episode if I remembered it) or a lore derivative

Spiner was great last night in 'The Big Bang Theory'. I currently have my Sisko, Quark, Riker, Picard, Deanna Troi and Seven of Nine action figures on display in my living room, all masturbating.

/wife is in for a surprise when she gets home
//Dr. Crusher and Wesley Crusher action figures masturbating together would be kind of sick...

I can see Brent as the Joker. A few years ago I had a sigmoidoscopy and when I came home from the hospital I took a nap. I had this nightmare that Brent Spinner was chasing me around in his Lt. Data outfit hell bent on raping me. Yes, Brent Spinner, dressed as Data, not Data himself. He was downright psychotic and persistent and every time I'd think I'd finally managed to get rid of him he'd show up with a maniacal giggle and say some sort of computer pun like "Time to upload my RAM disk!"

I've always been a little afraid of him since. I think subconsciously that's why I stopped doing comics. I was terrified of the prospects of us being guests at the same convention some time.

2 things.

1. He's gotten a little bigger if you hadn't noticed. Still game?

2. I like the underboob in your profile.

Okay, I was wondering why he looked sort of familiar, but that I believe hit the nail on the head...

Quick, someone 'shop a sonic screwdriver into his hand and a TARDIS behind him!

He recently debunked that rumor in some Internet interview, I think. Wikipedia claims he's made no plan to retire.

Well, there's always been that (alas, debunked) urban legend about Brent Spiner being a Ronald McDonald actor, so one could have argued that at least the "creepy clown" thing was down.

If said urban legend wasn't completely debunked, that is. (Pity that. Because it would have been even more awesome. :D)

Yup. Thom Adcox/Lexington did an amazing Klarion the Witch-Boy a few months ago.

Well, watching it now as it's over (huzzah for DVR), he's definitely not a bad actor for the part. The scene that picture was taken from saw him breaking the 4th wall already, and he seems to have his trusty switchblade as well...

/"the more we get to have our... jollies"? okay that's kinda creepy

I had the action figures boxed up before we got together. She knew I had them, she just asked that I not put them on display.

Her only condition was that I never own a Starfleet uniform, or any other uniform that appeared on Star Trek. She put them in her wedding vows that I owning one or even attempting to sew one would be grounds for divorce.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA *gasp gasp gasp* HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

COOL STORY BRO! No really, I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. The image of Brent Spiner making commentary like that in a deranged manner lifted my mood after reading the politics tab. Thank you.

\no, srsly, thx

Yes, actually, WHY ARE YOU NOT WATCHING THIS?

The show is every bit as good an adaptation as JLU, and I am amazed that I would ever say anything is as good as JLU

/I love Earth-16

What amuses me is I've always thought of The Joker as a court jester rather than a circus clown. Maybe it was the lack of oversized shoes and honking nose. Being a pro, Brent Spiner can handle either description with ease. He'd be perfect for an animated TV show. Although he is a little old for live action.

2011-10-14 09:39:04 PM
So wait. The Justice League's strategy for dealing with a criminal group consisting of Black Adam, Poison Ivy, Ultra-Humanite and the Joker is to send in the sidekicks? I think they might want to let Batman handle the cunning plans from now on.

2011-10-14 10:18:29 PM
For old times sake, and for those who never had the pleasure, here's Mark Hamill's Joker laugh (new window).
