I want to see zombie Reagan and zombie FDR fight it out.

If a Liberal made a statement similar to FDR's today, he would be branded a Marxist nut-job. So sad.

If FDR were alive today, Fox & Friends would crack polio jokes and call him a "crippled rabble-rouser." *

*Even if he were in office. That's how much they respect America.

Brian Kilmeade: I mean, FDR can't even walk, what does he have against herr Hitler?

Steve Doocy: And besides, Hitler has shown a great lack of tolerance for communists and unions in his country, did we elect the wrong guy?

Yeah, we get some chemtrail goofs and the usual complement of LaRouchies, also some Ron Paul goldbug types. That's what happens with a movement that is specifically open to all.

I heard a couple OWS people interviewed on NPR. They're not making a whole lot of sense.

I'm a history major and now I'm $20k in debt and can't find a job and somehow its Wall Street's fault?

No it's your fault for picking a major that provides you with no work skills and it's the goverment faults for providing so much cheap credit for student loans that the college tuition keeps skyrocketing. And it's the schools fault for charging you so much money to teach you nothing useful as far as employment goes.

Geez you can trace most of our problems with government right now to the absolute abandonment of the constitutional restrictions on the role of government that FDR forced through by blackmailing the Supreme Court. So let's do it again!

Once again:

Don't have a degree? You should have gone to college, LIIIIB!

Have a degree in something other than a STEM discipline? Why did you get a useless degree, LIIIIB?

Have a degree in one of the STEM disciplines? Why'd you waste so much money going to college, LIIIIB?

There is literally no answer that right-wing scumbags don't have a ready-made dismissal for. They're not arguing life choices or offering solutions, they're only interested in blaming the victims.

Wall St crashed the economy when making slightly risky bets millions of times blew up in their faces.

Now, they're back to pre-recession levels of hoarded wealth and compensation.

They're also digging in against paying more in taxes to support a dragging economy.

They're also digging in against regulations that would have (could have? Should have, in the case of Glass-Steagall) prevented that excessive risk-taking.

They're also digging in against the suggestion that having a 200-to-1 (or 300-to-1 or 400-to-1, depending on whose estimates you like) ratio of CEO pay:worker pay is a bad thing.

They're also clinging to the notion that paying more in taxes makes them morally better (ignoring disparities in marginal RATES, as well as the sales, payroll, use and other taxes the rest of us pay).

They're fighting to keep "lazy and lucky" income (cap gains, which earns money for doing nothing other than being a good bet in retrospect) taxed at a lower rate than actual, sweat-producing work,

So it's not Wall Street's fault he's unemployed. It's Wall Street's fault he has little hope of being employed in the next 12 months. It's Wall Street's fault (plus their enablers' in DC) that, of whatever meager income he does see, a larger share of it goes to paying off a bigger debt.

// the unemployment rate for college grads is 5% and change, so he's better off than the GED Squad, at least

Actually you can trace most of the problems with the US government through the fact that it's run by corporate interests and neither entity has a care for the well being of the citizenry.

Well, we've trusted it to fat old white men in suits for a hell of a long time and look where that got us. Maybe we could try something different.
