In retrospect, "Chutney" is not as cool a name as I thought it would be. Sorry, Son.

Definitely hate being a Jr. It makes it confusing for everyone involved. If my mom yelled for me growing up, both me and my dad answered. Same for family gatherings now. This is also a problem for medical insurance and scheduling because for some reason no one knows how to have a suffix on their form or enter it into their computer.

Either subby thinks 10% of us are "celebrities" or subby sucks at math.

And FTFA:

"Just as our desire for interesting names is rising, so too is our obsession with choosing the right name," Laura Wattenburg, author of "The Baby Name Wizard" tells The Guardian. "Parents willing to go out and change a name is becoming more common because they are conscious they are sending their child out into a competitive landscape, so branding them for success makes sense. If the brand name doesn't work in the first instance, change it."

Branding your kids? Laura Wattenburg is one sick puppy.

/yes i know what she meant, and that's a punch in her cock

FTFY.

My middle name is my mom's maiden name. I'll probably keep the tradition. If my GF ok's it our first daughter is going to be my grandma's first and last name, then my last name. Or any other combination of family names.

Then again my sister's name is the only one ever in existence (We're not black!). My great grandma screwed up the family tree so the name got copied wrong. My brother's name came from Jeremiah Johnson and my name came from some old US historical figures.

I think the worst black franken-name I've heard (besides Latrina) was Nevaehsha

It's got the whole Nevaeh= heaven thing going (which is somewhat common) but the -sha at the end nullifies the original intent and makes a stupid name even dumber.

It isn't made up - I met someone with this name 14 years ago and she seemed reasonably well adjusted.

I now wish I had switched my child's first and middle names since now she's known by the middle one, which was shorter, easier to pronounce, and not Welsh. I've gone by my middle name my whole life and it's annoying. Anywhere there's official paperwork, I'm trying to sign a name I never use. Or at a hospital or doctor's office, not paying attention because I don't respond to the first name.

One of the boys at my daughter's school is named Dewayne Tyrell (first and middle names). The weird thing about it is that the boy's mom and dad are both Asian and quite nerdy looking. From what I understand, the mother is a registered nurse and the dad is a civil engineer.

My niece's name is Ava. It's driving me up the wall because it's pronounced like Eva and I can't spell it right. I call her Unit One. People think it's because they want another child later on. It's probably just as well, given the symbolism of the whole thing.

FTA: Because naming your child is one of those things you can "prepare for" before birth, a lot of parents find themselves rethinking their decision once they meet the little stranger.

People who call their kid a name while still in utero bugs the hell out of me. How do you name someone without seeing them? I mean, it's one thing to have a good idea of what you want to name the kids, but jeez. You can wait till you see the kid to make your final decision.
