This is why all real politicians use clip-art.

Lorenze said Epstein was first to use the three-teen image, unveiling it on signs and fliers at McLean Day in May. Lorenze said they chose the picture to convey Epstein's history as an activist with Fairgrade, a parent group that successfully pushed to ease the county's strict grading policy.

Did she bring a note from her mother?

Knowing absolutely nothing about either candidate or their positions, I have to say that Strauss used the better image and used it more effectively.

Whores, the lot of them.

It's NOVA, this won't count against them.

This barely made news when Gingrich did it, and he has a head like a damn pumpkin.

My particular combination of gender/race/creed/sexual orientation isn't represented in those photos.

I feel left out.

Let's be honest here...

People who run for school board positions are either religious whackjobs or libtards. There is no in between.

Reminds me of the "Can we get a cat?" scene in Wag the Dog.

To which Strauss' campaign replied, "Up your nose with a rubber hose!"

The story is funny. Stock Photos suck mostly IMHO, but what really caught my eye was this header:

www.washingtonpost.com

IS that a BEFORE and AFTER of the same columnist in the left part?

Anyone who wants to be on the school board that much is deeply suspicious

I'm lazy, so just imagine I posted Lois & Peter Griffin's opposing school campaign signs here. Thanks. Isn't that a funny reference? Didn't you lol? I knew it. fark it, I'm going to go hit on the chick who's boyfriend shot himself in the head, clearly she makes bad decisions.

30, maybe?

Slartibartfaster: Ya know how I know you don't actually see the kids you want us to pay you to look after ?

Exactly. The article even says their excuse was "local kids were hard to find in the summer". First of all, any involved activist would have had plenty of actual photos of them engaged with schools and children, and secondly I'm pretty sure that you could find kids if you wanted to.

Stock photos are really lame. Everyone knows a photographer good enough to take commissioned pictures for a small business or local politician. Stock photos are a turn-off if you're trying to give any impression of being in touch with a community or client base.

Well, could be worse, another Fairfax School Board candidate has posters that look like someone with a gun aiming at a kid running away, while another kid raises her hands in the air. The one behind the shooter is probably trying to staunch a gunshot wound. Who thought this was a good idea for a poster?

"I've got polling research that describes the effectiveness with voters of using graduates," said Catherine Lorenze, Epstein's campaign manager. "It signifies success."

What kind of school board candidate has a campaign manager? And she has "polling research"?

Really?

Vote for the one that makes your kids dumber and expects less out of them!

Agreed. I seriously considered a run for the Orange County, FL school board, but after getting to know the people that I would have to deal with on a daily basis I decided I'd be better off staying home and slamming my dick in a door.

Stock photos are fun. Anyone that thinks they accurately portray reality, however...

...may have their reasoning brought to question. That's not a sleight against the candidates, but anyone that votes for people based on the attractiveness / diversity / affinity they feel towards the people used in the ads.

And don't get me started on VOs for political ads that begin by describing what the opposition stands for in a really whiny voice ("Todd Johnson SAYS he's for proposition 34, but what's he REALLY for...", spoken in the same way as a twelve year-old snitch would say "Becky SAYS she's your friend, but why did she tell KAYLEE that you kissed Michael...")
