People are dumb...they look at the package for the "allergens: contains blah blah blah" and not at the actual INGREDIENT LIST itself. or the package.

Well, a lot of packaging shows "serving suggestions" so you would look to see what is actually included.

Does it have a disclaimer that "this product contains dairy"?
Ice cream =dairy - oh really?

I hate how we all have to deal with peanut bans because you passed your inferior genes onto your child.

"Kroger Co. says shoppers should return the product to supermarkets for a refund or replacement."

I think it would be highly entertaining to return a pint of Moose Tracks to the grocery store and exchange it for another pint of Moose Tracks, just with peanuts listed in the ingredients.

I think I'd talk about how much I love peanuts during the whole exchange.

cretinbob: Yes, people are that farking stupid

I think you are confusing this with the flip scenario. The picture does not show peanuts but the ingredient list has peanuts. That's an example of how consumers are stupid because they would be getting information not from the ingredient list but instead from the picture. In that scenario, presumably they also think there is a moose in there.

This is not that example. This is example of how a company farked up pretty bad. The picture is irrelevant, the ingredient list is what matters. If you have a huge peanut allergy, you're going to be in the habit of skipping straight to the ingredient lists so you don't die.

The gene pool needs a little bit of chlorine (or peanuts) to keep things clean.

I truly dont think half the people who claim it are actually allergic to peanuts. It has to be some interaction between them and some chemical we've been pumping ino our bodies since the dawn of preservatives and artificial everything, or some random drug interaction no one ever thought of.

I just find it hard to believe that our bodies just magically decided one day that peanuts were poison....

I'm with all of you. This is stupid. Companies shouldn't have to tell us what's in the food products they're selling. Where's your sense of adventure?

pearls before swine: I'm with all of you. This is stupid. Companies shouldn't have to tell us what's in the food products they're selling. Where's your sense of adventure?

The article does not make it to clear if the issue is that the ingredient list has peanuts listed in it, or if it is just missing the peanut allergy warning

Like most farkers I used to think allergies were BS, until I randomly developed an almond allergy at 25. Pissed me off too, because I loved me some Almond Joys. So yeah, Im convinced most modern allergies arent genetic, but environmental, be it through diet, air quality, cell phones, or whatever.

FriarReb98: I truly dont think half the people who claim it are actually allergic to peanuts.

An allergy is an actual concrete definable thing. It's not like saying someone has ADD. You can actually test to see if you are allergic to something. It's an overzealous immune response. So you can just measure your immune system response to it.

FriarReb98: It has to be some interaction between them and some chemical we've been pumping ino our bodies since the dawn of preservatives and artificial everything, or some random drug interaction no one ever thought of.

You might think that if you know absolutely nothing about how allergies work. I get that you're really mad about preservatives and artificial things but your poutrage really doesn't fit here.

I believe you are correct on that, however according to the US Farm Report, the use of peanuts in products has also gone up dramatically in just the last decade alone. It's one of those ingredients like soy which in the past you would never consider to be in the products that they are in today.

What else would you expect? It has nothing to do with allergies and people dying - companies don't care about that. This has everything to do with lawsuits - companies care about money.

Someone with a peanut allergy may have died from eating it because they were not warned. Meh.
Someone may sue. RECALL IMMEDIATELY

That's how these things work and in this case, it worked out exactly the way it should have.

To be fair, i dont think anyone cares about other people's sensitivities until they themselves are left gasping for air/covered in hives/crapping out their brains. Why make the effort to learn about something so specific unless it's relevant to your life? Plus its more fun to think you're better than those people.

I dont care what other people think of my food sensitivities so long as I can find out what I'm eating.

I tell them I'll go warm some up, and when I come back they'll either be all ready for sexy time, or be shocked it's only the 2nd date! I give them their cup of coffee I just made and ask what they were expecting, or fling it onto the coffee colored carpet for sexy time.

Yes but if you did die it removes you from the gene pool and thus makes the odds of more people having peanut allergies lower. I just think the company is trying to save the human race from unhealthy genes.

or, you know, we could actually have judges and lawyers not take on frivilous lawsuits that allow this sort of recall to be necessary. i know if i had a food allergy i would be sure to read ingrediants labels. ok, i'll give them some slack with having to put "this product processed....blah blah blah...may contain traces...", but COME ON something that OBVIOUSLY contains or could contain peanuts? why do you need a warning label?!?
