B...b..b...but cops don't arrest other cops! Fark told me that!

The charges stem from a crash on Douglas road in Northbridge that caused serious injuries to Dennis E. Guertin, 54, of Douglas. Mr. Guertin was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus in Worcester for serious injuries to his left leg and hip. A UMass spokesman said the hospital had no record of a patient with that name.

...so what happened to him?

Sure they do, just not as often as they should.

Why is she in trouble? He crashed the car, gave her a head injury and she was most likely concussed, in shock, or both and did what he asked her to do.

I agree. The cop is the douche, let her be.

I don't care if she was unconscious. She's culpable for getting in the car with him knowing that he was drunk. I hope she gets just as a severe penalty as he does.

However, Lt. Labrie and Sgt. Brian Patrinelli said they saw a large round indentation in the passenger side of the windshield.

"The window was shattered in this area of identification and officers observed there to be several pieces of what appeared to be long brown/blond hair stuck in the broken windshield in the indentation. This indentation was directly in front of the passenger side seat of the truck," Lt. Labrie's report said.

That's some fine police work there, boys.

Why do I feel like this particular cop might be an abusive boyfriend?

Asshole for doing this to her.

come on, give this guy a break. He just made one bad choice. As a servant of the people we should find it in our hearts to forgive him. After all, he is here to server and protect. Who is going to protect us if he is in jail for such a minor in fraction?! Who? Clearly he would serve us better to be on the streets. I demand justice!

She wasn't driving....and just because a person is drunk doesn't mean that it is readily apparent to those in the vicinity of said drunk. She should be left alone, and just charge the cop.

She'll get charges dropped for full cooperation, because the DA needs to nail this guy for appearances since an innocent motorist was horrifically harmed. Just a hunch.

They get arrested all the time, don't be fatuous.

Here's what's troubling:

His boss is one of the investigators.
He hasn't suspended him or taken any action, citing the investigation.

"The State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Section is assisting Northbridge police with the investigation. Investigating Northbridge officers are Chief Walter J. Warchol, Lt. Timothy Labrie, Detective Sgt. John Ouillette, Sgt. Brian Patrinelli, and Officers Levon Derkosrofian and Jeffrey White.

Northbridge police issued a press release yesterday afternoon and referred all questions to the chief.

In a supplemental statement released last night, the Northbridge Police Department said it is completing a thorough investigation of the incident and, once completed, the report will be forwarded to the town manager.

"If the investigation confirms that Officer Nadeau engaged in misconduct in violation of the Northbridge Police Department Rules and Regulations, appropriate disciplinary action will be taken," the statement said. "Since the entire incident is under investigation, no additional comments will be made by Chief Warchol at this time."
(new window)

and

"Ampagoomian said selectmen may take up the matter once the investigation is complete, but it is too early to discuss any disciplinary action.

"Even though he's a police officer, he still has to have his day in court," Ampagoomian said. "Hopefully as a community, we can come together and learn from this."

Nadeau is due back in Uxbridge District Court on Nov. 4."

civilians can lose it all on the mere suspicion or accusation of wrongdoing even if they're later exonerated.

those who are sworn to uphold the law should be held to a higher standard and rarely are. the opposite appears to be true. they routinely escape punishment for crimes that civilians would be stiffly punished for.
