My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with this girl that said Michelle Bachmann passed out at Thirty-One flavors last night.

I'm tired of this guilt by association crap. Unless you've expressly or impliedly affirmed or approved of the policies of a friend or colleague, then their failings aren't yours. I have friends who are Republicans; hell, I have family members who are borderline teabaggers. Does that make me one of them?

Do they advise you on your run for political office?

If I ran for political office, I wouldn't not list my dad as one of my advisors, because when he explains that his economy policy is "I hope the stock market crashes because fark rich people" that would be awkward for me.

what_now: Do they advise you on your run for political office?

In this example, the bad guy isn't her advisor, he's a friend of her advisor. So that's not really an apt analogy. But, yes, if your economic policy advisor is a Marxist or anarchist, then that's probably a fair criticism of you.

If you're running in the same circles as people promoting mass killings of homosexuals and running for president I'm going to want to know that shiat.

2011-10-13 10:06:57 AM
The real outrage here is that we are still talking like Bachmann is running for something. They are just keeping her on the stage because he fills the quota. They've already got two Mormons, a Catholic, and the token Black guy. That's just enough to make it appear like it's not a party run by super rich Christian fundamentalists bent on returning America to it's pre-Progressive movement days.

Who cares? She won't win the nomination anyway, and if she somehow did, she would never get elected

Yes, I can see how working with someone who knows someone who does stupid things makes you a horrible person. I knew a guy who worked with someone whose wife stole a car, and as soon as I heard the news I quit that job so I didn't have to see his guilty face.

Sure, stealing cars and promoting executions of gays. Totes the same.

Also, she doesn't work with him. She employs him.

No one should be surprised by this. She and her advisors and their circle of associates are all like minded. This isn;t to say she herself would endorse such extreme behaviour however, she would not likely speak out against it either.

OH MY GOD THAT MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE! Employment should entirely be based on the quality of the employee's friends! You've convinced me, I think we should pass a law saying employers are allowed to not only browse your Facebook for anything they consider against their company image, but they are allowed to browse all of your friends' Facebooks for similar offensive material. No, that's not far enough. Not 'allowed', we should make it mandatory. No more employing of people who know people who are stupid. IT STOPS TODAY! LETS GO STREAKING!

She herself explicitly advocates forced government destruction of all things homosexual, so this doesn't come as a shock.

Seriously...while it's no surprise that Bachmann travels in those circles, this his hardly a smoking gun.

We already knew how she felt about homosexuals.

Wow such outrage, some of you guys were all up in Obamas ass for being associated (along time ago) with Ayers. Even after he distanced himself, you couldn't let it go.
Now that the tables are turned, oh my, it's just not fair.
Bias? Bias? Table for bias is reafy.

Funny you should mention that. I worked with a guy that was taking a position with the government. A guy in a suit came down and interviewed all of us. We weren't even his friends. It matters(if she was a Republican).

He had to list you as a reference.

They don't just go out and check with all of your past coworkers in your entire life. You are required to put a certain number of people down as character or job related "witnesses," then they send an agent (usually the retired ones do this) to check out your past, dig up all your dirt. After all the interviews with your friends/coworkers/family/whoever you put down, they come back and interview you about what they said and anything incriminating they may have dug up.

/why yes, I have done this a few times....
//ALWAYS tell your references, else they will shiat bricks when the FBI knocks on their door. Its a courtesy thing, but a big one.

Woah woah woah. Back up. Bachmann has advisors? I thought her advisors were forwarded email chains with titles like: THINGS OBAMA DOESN'T WANT YOU TO KNOW.

Barbigazi: Are you saying that who a presidential candidate hires should never be talked about?

Who they hire is somewhat relevant. Not incredibly, since people should be hired based on their capacity to do their farking job, not on their taste in music or friends. I really couldn't care less about an opinion of a friend of an employee. Playing six-degrees-of-asshole doesn't solve anything.

I understand that and agree that you shouldn't be considered guilty because of what someone you know does. But however with Bachmann this theme of being violently anti gay and preaching this type of stuff against gays keeps popping up with people close to her. Once or twice you can brush it off, but when it keeps coming up then you have a problem.

His job is to advise her. He isn't driving her car or fixing her computer. He's supposed to help set her policies.

No she's just employing a guy who hangs around with people who think gay people should be killed and helped put that thought into action in Africa. Which is totally like stealing a car in your opinion.

We already know she's anti-gay. That's not a contested fact. At this point, this other evidence is just surplusage.

I missed the part where Ayers was helping countries pass laws to kill gay people. I must have also missed the part were Obama hired Ayers or his close friends to advise him.

Ayers was part of a group that actively killed people. Shirley you must think that Obama being friends with someone who was friends with terrorists means that Obama is a horrible person, right?

Yeah we knew she was anti-gay, but she is close to people that are violently anti-gay. People that want to commit genocide against gays.
