There has to be something bad with their water supply.

Having attended my share of sporting events in Philadelphia, I find this kind of hilarious. Classless? Possibly, but everybody knows Philly fans will boo anything and everything, there are no sacred cows there, no protected classes. I'd almost be sad to see them develop a sense of shame, as it would take away that special surreal something that makes Philly, Philly.

How do you know they weren't boournsing cancer?

Philly: the largest city in Jersey.

2011-10-13 11:12:13 AM
I dunno, subby, any city in the country? People are moronic animals in their allegiance to total strangers who throw a ball around who happen to be from their home town.

Uncle Wiggly: Philly: the largest city in Jersey.

Correction: New Jersey is a suburb of New York City and Philadelphia.

Dammit, that was my second guess. My first was Montreal Canadien fans.

jaylectricity: Dammit, that was my second guess. My first was Montreal Canadien fans.

In Montreal, they would probably just complain about the PSA being in English, and argue that the NHL wants French people to die of cancer.

Phiadelphia fans would boo puppies.

Cute puppies.

Me too. But we're Bruins fans (I think you're a Bruins fan?) so it's kind of a knee-jerk reaction.

To be fair, EVERYBODY wants French people to die of cancer.

Years ago in a Steelers v. Browns game, the NFL introduced the punt, pass, and kick champions at halftime. One of the girls was wearing a Browns jersey so of course the fans at Heinz booed the little girl.

I LOL'd . BOOOOO little girl!

Yeah, right. Then again, the Phillies out of the playoffs and the Eagles bringing the suckage makes me happy for their misery.

There are two sides to every story. Maybe they were booing cancer. Maybe Santa Claus was asking for it. Maybe that Washington mascot deserved to have his limbs broken. You never know.

well at least the Union are in the playoffs with at least a draw Saturday.

I'm a Detroit sports guy through and through, but Philly was still the best sports city I've ever lived in. I miss the passion that was present at every game.

I was at the game, and I boo'd.

Seriously, fark Crosby. If the people making the commercial were smart, they wouldn't put the most hated member of our most hated rival on the big screen. Especially since the boos were too loud to hear what he was whining about.

Exactly.

On the plus side, it was a fun game to watch. I've never gotten to see the Sedin twins in person, and Jee-pers. TV doesn't do their skill justice. Perhaps even better, two hot blonde canucks fans sat in front of us. My buddy successfully convinced them to flash their tits in exchange for us "being good fans" all game. We wouldn't have farked with them in either case. As it was, there was some small guy with his two kids sitting to my right, all 3 of them Canucks fans. We joked with him that his celebration wasn't as loud or as long as ours were. It was funny, every time he cheered, he immediately looked around in fear of someone about to hit him. No one ever did. On the plus side, tits.

When they're close enough to yell to and your side of the river looks about the same in most places and aspects, you don't get to act like they're all that different.

Everyone hates Crosby, nationwide as far as I can tell... well except for the Burgh naturally. I'd even wager that no one was booing the other guys, recent Flyers' playoff denials or not... that was all for Crosby.

I KNOW! How little foresight and self control did THEY show? Its as if they didnt even know the sight of Crosby on a screen would cause Philly fans to spook like herd animals and do something stupid together.

I guess that hatred of Philly fans wins out over hatred of Cindy. Plus, if it wasn't for Philly's fan base being the scapegoat for all fans, then other people would have to confront all the shiatty things that their fellow citizens have done at sporting events.

Crosby was the first image on the screen, BEFORE anyone knew it was a cancer commercial.
