My god that made me nauseous.

2011-10-12 11:10:53 AM
i didn't watch the debate, but from this video i'm going to assume that the only question they asked was "please tell us how how much you hate your political rivals"

Repeal ALL the things!

2011-10-12 11:28:06 AM
GAT_00: Repeal ALL the things!

well they were pragmatic enough to say that some things might have to be reinstated later, albeit without any dickhole democrats' names on the bills.

2011-10-12 11:31:17 AM
John Huntsman is the only sane person there. How on earth does he stand to be in that company?

2011-10-12 11:50:33 AM
I can't figure out who has lost touch with reality the most: The candidates themselves or the voters who are supporting them...

2011-10-12 11:51:35 AM
"You can't just wave it all away."
"I didn't say that, I said repeal it."
*glare eyes*

2011-10-12 11:52:52 AM
Wow, that was like... someone rammed a hot needle made entirely of lies directly into my temple.

2011-10-12 11:55:43 AM
At least RON PAUL went the full mile and said repeal SOX too

/Still a stupid farking idea

GAT_00: Repeal ALL the things!

Came for this, left happy.

2011-10-12 11:57:57 AM
So wait.

Should I occupy everything, or repeal everything?

2011-10-12 11:58:28 AM
Someone in the GOP is deliberately dumping all the party's dead weight into this election because they're thinking of 2014-- not 2012. It's not a bad strategy.

2011-10-12 11:58:30 AM
All I could imagine watching that video was that it would be improved if someone did this to it Link (new window). It would be more linguistically pleasing and make more sense.

"Repeal the capital gains tax"?

They are so far removed from the American public that they don't realize that the majority consistently poll to raise that very same tax?

2011-10-12 12:00:11 PM
Why would I willingly subject myself to that? I need all of my brain cells thank you very much.

The only people that stand to gain on the repealing of capital gains are those people whose income is solely based on capital gains (i.e., brokers, bankers, and the super rich). Which is exactly why it needs to be increased.

2011-10-12 12:03:03 PM
I actually think this video makes them look BETTER than what actually happened.

2011-10-12 12:05:21 PM
That wasn't a debate, that was a bunch of yahoos sitting around a kitchen table bullshiatting. I guess they were going for that folksy down-home vibe.

2011-10-12 12:06:24 PM
Jon Huntsman is the most sane candidate there, and maybe Romney is a close second. The problem with Huntsman is threefold:
a) he's not popular
b) he's moderate
c) all he ever does is repeat himself (though to his credit, the things he repeats are reasonable, especially compared to his competitors)

My favorite derplight wasn't even in the video: when a moderator asked a candidate (either Perry or Romney) a question explicitly stating that this crisis is 30 years in the making and the candidate basically says "All Obama Fault" as an answer.

There's your Republican Party: half of them want to return to the halcyon days of 2008 and the other half wants to prove how hardcore they are by sending us all the way back to 1776.

When they cut to his clips I was going, "Who the hell is this intelligent guy and what is he doing in this debate?"

I see that Bachmann has the continuing endorsement of Revlon CrazyEyes™ LashLift®.

And Newt Gingrich needs to be tarred, feathered and run out on a rail. What a smarmy bastard.

joeyromeo: Someone in the GOP is deliberately dumping all the party's dead weight into this election because they're thinking of 2014-- not 2012. It's not a bad strategy.

It's not purposeful. Dead weight is all they've got right now.

The Great EZE: when a moderator asked a candidate (either Perry or Romney) a question explicitly stating that this crisis is 30 years in the making and the candidate basically says "All Obama Fault" as an answer.

Wow, I'm surprised they didn't hang that one squarely around the neck of Jimmy Carter and the Community Reinvestment Act. It's been a favorite ploy of the League of Fail™ for some time now.

It's not just that he repeats himself, but half the things he repeats are corny jokes that don't add anything to the discussion. Maybe he realizes he stands no chance and wants to use his remaining time in the spotlight honing his standup routine. But if he still thinks he's a serious contender, I'm not really impressed with his cool-teacher-who-sits-backwards-in-the-chair-to-connect-with-the-kids act.

Yes, remove the "long-term" capital gains tax!

Wait, that means all capital gains is taxed as regular income...

/didn't think my cunning plan through.

If people vote for Herman Cain, they've got no braincells. He wants to raise taxes on EVERYONE, with a national sales tax. That's his main platform. Raising taxes.

If Conservatives nominate the guy who's entire plan is to raise taxes on everyone and introduce a national sales tax on top of that, I might agree with the Liberals and calling them absolute retards.

pretty sure that 9-9-9 plan would replace the current federal income tax scheme. it would only raise taxes on the poor and middle class. it would also severely cut federal tax receipts and create a shadow economy.

OK, "Repeal Obamacare" doesn't come as a surprise. it's been a talking point for a long time but what's w/ all this hate for Dodd-Frank.? Is that something new or did I totally miss that?

He also believes that the President doesn't have to listen to the SCOTUS. I'd like to see his response if Obama told Scalia to go fark himself...

Well, if you want evidence that slashing spending doesn't work, just look at the UK where they just reached a 15 year high in unemployment and other budget crises that the magic of spending cuts didn't fix. (new window)

well out of control spending is bad for sure. especially the defense budget. that coupled with lowered revenues has certainly put the debt and deficit at dangerous levels.

but govt deregulation in the financial sector is a huge reason for the boom and bust economies we have right now. rampant speculation and hedging with a derivatives market that is wide open for corruption and exploitation coupled with a "too big to fail" certainly leaves us all that the mercy of the wall st cabal. they've created this huge economic nuclear bomb and threaten to kill us all if we dare not meet their every demand. and the GOP are their footsoldiers
