ddam: Netflix saw the errors of their ways and did away with the Qwikster thing. I was kinda hoping it'd go through since it'd make adding games a lot easier to their business plan. Hopefully they still add games and I can do away with Gamefly.

Ugh, Gamefly. I had to drop it after I couldn't get anything worth playing in anymore. I could get Toy Story 3 in a day, but Call of Duty: Black Ops? In a month, maybe. I just went back to renting from the store.

netweavr: Dallas is a trap game for New England.

i am discounting each and everything you said because you uttered the magic words.

there is no such thing as a trap game in the NFL.

you only get 16 chances in the NFL.

the NFL trap game is the easter bunny, the loch ness monster, the bogeyman....now in the NBA and its 82 game season, 7 games in 8 days, traveling redeye all over the country, or baseball's 162 game season, yeah, i can get that. but not in the NFL. you get 16 chances, you get a full week to study your opponent, etc.

there are no trap games in teh NFL.

it's just a stupid label the Bill Simmons' of the world use to justify inexplicably bad performances. let me guess; Tampa Bay's loss last weekend was TRAP GAME, TRAP GAME, LOL, TRAP GAME, WHADDYA GONNA DO, TRAP GAME because they face the Saints this weekend, right?

thoughtpol: so i'm near Detroit (Ann Arbor), and i like the Lions, but i don't see anything wrong with the top end of these rankings. who among us really feels like the Lions would beat the Pats tomorrow? i don't. i think the Patriots would open a huge lead in the first half, then at least keep up after half time and beat the Lions by double digits. the Lions probably wouldn't beat the Packers or the Saints, either (but maybe the Saints). and isn't that the point of such a ranking? to try and anticipate who would beat who? it shouldn't just be a list of 5 win teams, then 4 win teams, then 3 win teams, etc. i can do that shiat myself.

Here in Buffalo we thought the same thing.

We were wrong.

So how god damn great would a Bills/Lions matchup look in the Super Bowl? Underdog vs. Underdog.

Scrotastic Method: Eventually some large man will catch little Welkah on one of his crossing routes and rattle his brain around in his head, and then the Pats offense rests on, I don't know, Stevan Ridley and Ocho?

don't look now, but Benjarvus Green Ellis had something like 180 all purpose yards and I think 2 TDs.

Di Atribe: That's actually not true. I don't write off his mistakes. I admit when he makes mistakes. The difference between me & the rabid Romo-haters is that I'm willing to spread the blame around. Romo had 3 interceptions. At least one of those wasn't his fault. And how can you possibly blame him for the defense (and your boy Ware) giving up 17 points in one quarter? Romo gave up 14. Defense gave up 17. Yet Romo gets 100% of the heat? Such bullshiat. I stand up for him because I think he's treated unfairly. I don't watch the game through a pinhole that only shows what he does. It's a TEAM SPORT. Wins and losses are TEAM EFFORTS.

I dunno. I think Romo almost single-handedly beat the Niners.

Di Atribe: ddam: If you were a guy and I said the same exact comment about your favorite player would you cry "sexism"?

That's the thing, though. You'd never say that to a man who was defending his favorite player. And let's get something straight right now. I do not get upset when people have differing opinions, ok? Just because I rebut and I argue does not make me angry or pouty or pissed off. It means I disagree with you and I will point out the things I disagree with.

ddam: Your efforts to write off any mistakes that Romo make you fail as a fan of the team.

That's actually not true. I do not fail as a fan. What a shiatty thing to say. Seriously, just awful.

As far as I woudn't say that to a man, you couldn't be more wrong. I'd tell it to anyone that puts a player before the team.

And look at that second paragraph... my the excuses for Romo don't stop, do they? He threw 2 pick 6 while being up by more than 20 and you wanna pin it on the defense? Oh, and the 3rd pick he threw in the 4th gave the defense a short field. If there is one loss this season that can squarely be placed on Romo's is the loss to Detroit. FFS, learn to throw the ball away. After 6 years as a starter is it too much to ask that Romo not try to force a ball to Witten?

And if you paid attention, I praised Romo for the perfomances he put up against 49ers and Redskins. I'm hard on the Cowboys because I want them to succeed, not because I'm a hater. I'd be in heaven if Romo led the Cowboys to the Superbowl. The reality is that after 9 years in the league and 6 years as a starter he is who we think he is. A slightly above average QB that has problems with decision making and the team would be a whole lot better off if they looked for a young QB in the draft in the next couple of years.

rickythepenguin: there is no such thing as a trap game in the NFL.

Rant notwithstanding, this is utter truth.

Parity is king in the NFL. Some teams are better than others, to be sure, but to think there's any such thing as an "easy win" or "team that can be overlooked" is just garbage. I promise you -- if the Packers were to face the Colts next week, and decide that practice/studying film/adjusting the playbook were too much work for an easy opponent, the Colts would make them look foolish on the field.

That's one of the reasons I'm not on the Chargers "it's an unimpressive 4-1" anti-bandwagon. Yeah, Norvball can be dull and frustrating, but it wins more often than not (and, unlike Martyball, has a chance of winning postseason games). For all the hair-pulling it causes in the fanbase, in the end the only stat that matters is W.

I really love this last one against Denver and the whining it has caused in San Diego. Tell any player on any NFL team "you will win a road game against a division rival, beating the spread, and you should feel bad about that," and count how many milliseconds it takes for him to punch you in the face.

I mean, holy dogshiat, you'd think the Chargers had their usual 2-3 start the way the local fans are biatching. The team has won the games they're "supposed to win" early in the season -- something they haven't done in years -- while having Antonio Gates and Luis Castillo sidelined -- and the fans are UPSET ABOUT IT.

Do they not realize this is the NFMotherfarkingL? The "Any Given Sunday" principle? HOLY SHIAT!

Well, Rex is certainly annoying, but I think you have to look at Sanchez's 55% completion rate and failure to break the 200 yard mark most of the games this season to explain why they're not producing enough offense to win.

/but I don't have any reason to dislike him personally

I do not put the player before the team. Tony Romo is my favorite player on my favorite team.

ddam: He threw 2 pick 6 while being up by more than 20 and you wanna pin it on the defense?

What part of what I said made you think that I removed ALL blame from Romo and put it 100% on the defense? What part of "spread the blame around" is incomprehensible? We also have the play-calling to blame & wide receivers to blame & the O-line to blame. I didn't say he's blameless, my point was that people seem to forget that there are others to blame.

ddam: I'm hard on the Cowboys because I want them to succeed

Then how about you criticize the TEAM instead of A) one player & B) other fans? You think I don't want them to succeed? Being critical of one of your fellow fans will not help the Cowboys play better.

ddam: After 6 years as a starter

Uh.... halfway through 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, half of 2010..... *counts on fingers* I don't think that's 6. And you can't possibly expect to count the years he played clipboard-holder against him. That's just silly.

Yeah, to go along with the 18 he had in week three and the 34 he had in week one. If you want to put your team on Law Firm's back, go for it, but one good week doesn't make a guy into a stud. He's averaging less than 65 APY/G this year.

I think the shine will be worn off after the Atlanta game for Denver fans, though they'll start to see they need a lot more than a quarterback to fix things.

It will be good to see Tebow mauled by a Michigan team once again, though.

SF will be tough for the Lions, but I have to give the edge in grit to Detroit...they are playing like winners, and that means a lot when you are down by a TD (or 2 or 3).

GimpyNip: robsul82: GimpyNip: Lions don't have a tough road until after the BYE

San Francisco could beat them. And God, do I feel every single tremble of the tree branch as I say something positive about an Alex Smith-led team, lol, but they could. If they get through them, though, they're clear to the bye.

That was the 1 in 9-1. Although, they'll probably blow the game at Denver if they lose one...because that's how the NFL works

...and it's out doors, and the Denver fans will be going insane because they have their Tebow Mana

There are only 4 games that I'd put the Lions as either underdogs or "favorite but barely". Niners, Packersx2 and Saints. Everyone else I'd feel okay taking the Lions against in a suicide league. I could easily see them ending up 12-4 or 11-5, taking the top wildcard spot.

/I'm going out on a limb here, I think Green Bay will win the division.
//Crazy prediction, I know. No one would ever expect that one...

Di Atribe: GimpyNip: I hope this pic pisses you off

It doesn't. To anyone. Were you even born when they won that?

Nope, but neither were most kids who are getting their drivers licenses since the last time Cowboys won. Until last year, the Cowboys hadn't won a playoff game since I was a junior in High School. The same age those kids who've never seen the Cowboys win a Super Bowl are that are just getting behind the wheel. Aribba!
