Looks good. Only seven months to go....

2011-10-11 11:05:13 AM
Sweet.

2011-10-11 11:10:24 AM
Looks good and I'm not really a comic fan. I like what appears to be a homage to ID4 at the beginning.

2011-10-11 11:13:07 AM
I got all tingly!

2011-10-11 11:16:52 AM
why the indie-film aspect ration, i wonder.

2011-10-11 11:19:48 AM
Explosions, NIN, Scarlet?

I'm in.

2011-10-11 11:19:49 AM
Meh.

2011-10-11 11:25:35 AM
Which reminds me, I need to see Thor and Captain America soon.

No YOU'RE a Towel: Which reminds me, I need to see Thor and Captain America soon.

Thor's on DVD now. Cap comes out on the 25th.

No YOU'RE a Towel: Which reminds me, I need to see Thor and Captain America soon.

I suspect those two are more necessary than even Iron Man I & II or the Hulks for understanding the storyline they're going with in Avengers. I'd say more but I don't want to spoil anything for you.

2011-10-11 11:32:27 AM
aspect ratio, not ration. duh.

snuff3r: Explosions, NIN, Scarlet?

Not JUST Scarlet, but a red head version with short hair.

*panting*

You could probably skip Thor. It's just a really long mentos commercial.

What grinds my gears is that it COULD have been a great movie. They just forgot to effectively develop Loki as a villain.

And Asgard was silly as shiat.

Yeah. Uh, base, we've got, uh, Xena, Jackie Chan, and Robin Hood.

Though I wouldn't recommend it, one could actually skip IM, IM2 and TIH, of all you were
interested in was piecing together the plot, since you really only get the sense that there
is a plot starting with THOR (and it really takes shape in CAP).

Asgard? I thought they were on the Rainbow Road level of Mario Kart.

Am I the only one who saw the image of Scarlet and the explosion behind her at thought "Who farted y'all?"

Has anyone else noticed that Trent Reznor is turning into the gritty/noisy version of Mark Mothersbaugh? It's sort of an interesting transformation.

Looks better on the QT site. Probably just a crappy conversion for that particular player.

Looks good.

I need to see Iron Man II, Cap America, Thor and Hulk first.

2011-10-11 12:40:24 PM
Too bad they couldn't get Edward Norton to continue his role as Banner. The movie wasn't great, but he was.

2011-10-11 12:40:26 PM
As per usual, Robert Downey Jr. seems likely to be the best part.

IDK Iron Man II had a some Avengers bits you shouldn't miss. One part, especially, being Scarlet.

Norton walked over money.

Loki is the only bad guy? Thor kicked his ass all by himself, how does he pose a threat to the entire farking team?

So who wins in a fight between...

Thor
Iron Man
Captain America
Hulk

Also, who wins a slap fight between Black Widow and Hawkeye?

2011-10-11 12:43:34 PM
I think...I just nerdgasmed. Need to go change my pants now. That's going to be so freaking awesome. Can't wait.

And to the poster above, Thor was good. Great beginning, slow in the midsection, finishes great. Cap was fantastic!

2011-10-11 12:43:55 PM
Disagree with the Thor bashers. It was awesome, see it.

Mark Ruffalo's a good actor. I have full confidence that he'll do a good job as Banner.

Know how I know you've never read any Avengers comics? Loki is a god. Not only is he a god, he's the god of mischief and a cosmic level magician.

Between Thor, Iron Man, Cap and Hulk....it boils down to Thor and Hulk. And whether this Thor has the intelligence to wear Hulk out till he calms down or if Thor keeps pissing Hulk off and gets his ass handed to him. Since they're going with young, brash Thor, I'd give it to Hulk.

I'm still saddened by the lack of Pyms.

/Natasha is the lone female in the main cast of a Whedon flick - not very good odds of survival there.

They wanted Norton but he was being a huge dick from the moment the movie was announced and he already had a reputation of being difficult to work with.

Yeah, a god who got his ass kicked by Thor, repeatedly. I guess the rest of the Avengers can kick back and watch some dvd's while Thor handles the light work.

The answer is always "Captain America."

Always.

Iron Man is basically the Batman of Marvel. If he has time to prepare, smart money's always on him. Otherwise it's Thor (Hulk eventually tires out and deHulks and Thor pounds puny Bruce into the pavement with Mjolnir).

2011-10-11 12:54:22 PM
Looks good. But damned if I wasn't waiting the whole thing to hear someone say "Avengers Assemble!"

Isn't Hulk considered the most powerful character in the Marvel universe short of omnipotent beings? I remember reading his strength and resistance to harm technically has no limits if you get him angry enough.

Depends on which version you're dealing with. Various writers have buffed and debuffed him as they saw fit. There are nearly indestructible versions of the Hulk and there are versions that are slightly more powerful than the Thing.

They both kicked ass. However except a lot of silly humor in Thor while Tommy Lee Jones pretty much steals the movie for me in Captain America.

ThisNameSux: So who wins in a fight between...

Hulk

Thor is fueled by the Mjolnir
Iron Man is fueled by Alcohol
Cap is fueled with the American spirit
and Hulk is fueled with Gamma radiation

...I go with Thor cause he's a demi god.

Thor was a bad movie.
Go watch The Lion King instead it's the same movie except that Thor is Simba and Natalie Portman is Timon.

Like someone mentioned above, depends on the writer. He could punch Galactus in the face or crack a planet in half at his strongest. There was a series, I can't remember if it was in an Incredible Hulk or some special comic where it was said that Hulk was an Avatar. He represented Rage. Like Juggernaut is the Unstoppable Force, like Pheonix is rebirth.

Whether that's canon or not, I'm not sure. But He is one of the strongest in the MU, yeah.
