If you want to enact changes in Western democracies, you do it through the wholly-owned legislature, the packed courts, or the rigged electoral system.

I wonder how our right wing shills will try and spin this story? these protests were never supposed to get off the ground in the first place. According to the narrative being pushed by the corporate news teams, the protesters don't have an agenda, no message, no organizational skills and no end goal.

and yet....

Then you haven't seen it. And the people you are trusting to show it to you have a vested interest in making you think it's just "a bunch of dirty liberal arts from NYU".

You guys are retarded. Europe has been doing OWS type things for about 4 years already.

Keep patting yourselves on the back, but you are making no difference at all. You are a group of unemployable hipsters and union thugs.

Dallas had an occupy march on Friday of about 50 people. Yesterday there were about 200 people in the march. Wonder how many there will be Monday. I get to see them from my office. Unfortunately almost all of them at young with dreadlocks and just look generally unemployable outside of a hipster coffee shop.

Weren't there riots in Europe last month? Seems they look for reasons to protest there. As far as the effectiveness of protests here, until there are riots and death in the streets, they are meaningless.

I see reading comprehension is not your forte. I didn't deny OWS was over there, I said they've been doing this (and with a vengeance) for years.

In France, they burnt cars. In London, they burnt buildings. In Greece, they burnt people. A long time before jobless hipsters crawled out of their mom's basement.

Sometimes I think the dreadlocked and tattooed ones are just being realists. They know it doesn't make any difference what they look like, they're still not going to be able to get a job regardless.

Why? Because the jobs aren't there anymore. They got shipped overseas. American corporations miss the days of slave labor. Now, of course, they have to rent them from other countries.

This is the modern version of the hippie movement in the 60's and 70's. No clear points, no clear goals, no clear leaders, and no accomplishments to speak of. I imagine it will be about as effective too. Good work.

The thing is...they don't know. They're just there cause it's a bandwagon thing. But eventually someone will become the leader/voice of the group and it can be anything from "Rarg death to bankers Raaaar" or "Bankers we're calling you out on your BS...but peacefully of course."

Four years? You are an ignorant and uneducated idiot. The first Occupy Wall Street protest occurred in 1933, during which German members of the "Ze Democrakts" political party torched the Reichstag and made way for a "Nazi" regime that conformed to their worldviews. They did this so, according to one member of Ze Democrakts, "We can raise ze taxes on all people and use ze money for welfare!" Democrats have been trying to "Occupy Wall Street" for over eighty years. Fortunately, since Democrats are union liberal scumbags who do not shave and are as timid as they are ruthlessly violent (they burn Reichstags but back down from any fight because they are scared to get hurt), they have failed. They will eventually get their way, though. And you know what they will do? They will raise our taxes. So get the hell out of this thread. I am tired of liberals who claim they are conservatives. I own three copies of the Glenn Beck Bible: Collector's Edition, each hand-signed and hand-numbered by the messiah himself. You probably have never even kissed a Republican girl. Lol. Please do not post in this thread until you have read the works of Jean Baudrillard, Friedrich Nietzsche, Immanuel Kant, Ann Coulter, and Ronald Reagan. Understanding their works in full detail is critical for continued consumption of my comments. It is the only way to fully understand what President Taxbongo is doing to destroy this country.

I can see you're upset, I just want to understand with whom and why. Are you referring to the protesters, or farkers? Both? Are you upset that subby seems to think these protests going on in Europe is something new, or that the protests are going on at all, and are just futile?

Nothing IS happening. It's a bunch of people standing around yelling about being oppressed. Instead of contributing to society and either going to school, getting a job, raising a family, etc...they decide that people better off than them must be stopped.

I must be the bad guy since instead of honking my horn or showing a sign of resilience as I drive by the crowd in Seattle as I drive to work, I choose to work so that I can afford EVIL BAD THINGS like my new car or nice home. At some point those on the "other" side of the protests become just as numb to the cause at hand than the same people in their tents yelling at the people in the buildings actually...you know...working.

But according to the GOP talking points, these protestors aren't succeeding and nobody is paying any attention to them. which is why CNN, MSNBC, Fox news, Rush Limbaugh, marketwatch, CSNBC, Glenn Beck, and every right wing blogger in the northern hemisphere is shouting their heds off that the protestors aren't important enough to follow.

It'd be nice if this would grow into an actual political movement.

Me, personally, I don't mind capitalism and corporations. Capitalism gets shiat done. It's when corporations start directing the government that we have a problem.

Smoke
Lingers 'round your fingers
Train
Heave on - to Euston
Do you think you've made
The right decision this time ?
Oh ...

You left
Your tired family grieving
And you think they're sad because you're leaving
But did you see Jealousy in the eyes
Of the ones who had to stay behind ?
And do you think you've made
The right decision this time ?

You left
Your girlfriend on the platform
With this really ragged notion that you'll return
But she knows
That when he goes
He really goes
And do you think you've made
The right decision this time ?

I don't think most people in London will care about this. It's a movement that's going to be hijacked by far-left and/or annoying groups and sadly people aren't really going to listen to "hey, let's get the bankers regulated properly" if the people saying it are also shouting "hey, let's kill all straight white males, for their evil oppressive ways, then we can nuke Isreal, plant some trees, ban nuclear and fossil power..."

"Hey look Fred, those protestors down there with no jobs and no discernable set of skills for society are angry at us for making more money than they do. Whatever will we do?"

Yeah I'm sure the super-rich are *really* worried right now. But it's cute that you think a difference will be made when the whole point of the protests is the ones doing the protests are basically asking for things they want for nothing, and things they hate to be removed from their presence. RICH BAD. GIVE THE LAZY STUFF. Ad nauseum.
