Very well done, Mr. Colbert. The emotional turnaround in the last few seconds was....well, it stirred a little dust up.

2011-10-07 12:01:16 PM
Actually, it ended up being very poignant. "Right back atcha. Thanks for everything."

1. LOL.

2. That was super sweet.

3. I've never ever wanted to be an iPad 2 more in my life than I did while watching that clip.

He had that visionary billionaire thing. Many people admire these traits.

Many others grind their teeth in envy and pretend not to know what the big deal is.

Cancer sure does suck. Sucks even more when you let the cancer that YOU KNOW ABOUT eat you away while you try to use diet and vitamins to get rid of it for a year.

Then, after your fate is sealed, you spend your fortune to try and save yourself, but it's too late.

Not a fan of SJ, SC is great but this tribute is just pandering to the masses.

No one deserves cancer, but far greater people have died with far less fanfare.

Has there been a parade I missed?

I hate missing parades. Especially cancer parades. Those are awesome. They serve free popcorms.

It must be awesome to live such a miserable life that you can't say anything good.

Please list other people who were "far greater but died with far less fanfare." Just saying it doesn't automatically make it true. He just died 2 days ago, of course there will still be headlines. Hell Michael Jackson was in the news for weeks.

Whenever anyone says "No one deserves _______, but" they're just trying to make themselves feel better about something shiatty they're about to say, kinda like "I'm not racist, but..."

Ridicule away, then. Sorry I didn't love the mediocre products your hero paid people to create. As I said, I don't think he deserved death or cancer, but I was sick of the SJ tributes three hours after her resigned as CEO. Now it's just unbearable.

Man, everybody keeps saying how Jobs "gave" us the iPhone and iPad. So what are all the other Apple employees-- phone operators? It's like Jobs was CEO, The ENTIRE design department, the ENTIRE engineering department, and the ENTIRE manufacturing line... If that's the case, how come people keep killing themselves at that production facility in China? Sounds like Jobs was the entire corporation and everybody else was just ancillary help...

2011-10-07 12:34:01 PM
I mean. I can think of at least three, four assholes I know of who arguably, using that "logic" deserved to die of cancer for more than Steve Jobs did. No one here is throwing themselves on the floor and screaming WHY DID HE HAVE TO DDDDDIIIIIIE, wearing black, and setting their Apple devices to sleep. People are saying RIP. Which is what some people say when someone who is famous dies. Maybe stop reading more into it and get over it. No one is saying you need to say RIP.

If my work computer would actually play the clip, i would watch it during my lunchtime. Since it won't, some will have to suffer through a post that doesn't comment on how awesome the video is or how awful cancer is or how this CEO was the greatest thing since pong or wasn't the greatest at anything. Others will fully understand the gist of this message.

The only product I have in an ipod, I do have the ability to separate the man for the the company, appreciate what he did, and not turn into a whiner. Does the media coverage really bother you that much? I cant image being so petty

The video was Colbert talking about how every time he begged for a free device from Apple he got one, and how SJ sent him an email after the Grammys that said "Sweet! Thanks! Steve" and in the close of the video he replied to it on his iPad with "Thanks for everything."

Fart.

What did he do? Market the idea of a GUI that Xerox came up with as his own? Convince people that a 40+ year old guy in ratty shoes, mom jeans, and a black turtleneck was style?

Jesus, you can stop sucking him off; he's dead.

Who is fawning? Everyone has said it was a good tribute, and you shiat all over it when what you could have done (like any rational person) is move onto the next headline. But nooooo, it was "Steve Jobs basically killed himself with cancer and I hate cancer, but he since he's dead I want everyone to shut up about SJ because he doesn't deserve it."

And how is it old?! It's two days! I never cared much for the guy myself (I own an iPod because it's the best mp3 player out, but refuse to buy any other apple products), but at the same time I recognize what he did, and am not going to shiat all over a thread for my own enjoyment.

I'm shiatting on the people blowing his life out of proportion, not him. Can't shiat on something that's dead.

Besides, he was a Buddhist, and the negative karma from all of those sweatshops in third-world countries sure as hell kept him from entering the stream this time around.

A) I'm sorry my opinion is worse than yours and doesn't deserve to be here.

B) It's been going on since he stepped down as CEO in August. It's old.

anyone care to link his tribute from a different source? i refuse to allow scriptaggedon from gawker but i''d like to see this. i just did a quick youtube search and didnt see it there yet.

To all the fan boys - you know you laughed at all those people you saw crying when Michael Jackson died, or how you laugh at people that visit Graceland to pay respects, or how you laughed at those that cannonized Di. Remember how you laughed at them?? Yeah, that's how we're laughing at you.

I see your point. I'm sure many people feel the same way about Henry Ford. Visionary, genius, trendsetter, complete farking doosh-sack in his personal life.

I'd be curious to see how many people getting ACL/MCL damage fellating Jobs in these threads are also wharrrrgrabling in other threads about 'Damn those rich, fatcat, business people'. Or how many could have given a shiat about Ryan Dunn's death (I didn't either) and were in threads talking about was an ass-sack he was and got what he deserved.

Well, so did Jobs. He had all the money and opportunity to get real medical care. The best in the world. Instead he let one of the most aggressive and difficult to treat cancers spread through his body before he tried realistic treatment. He was a shiatty person who farked over his friend when they were both broke, and denied and lied to the point of claiming sterility in court to avoid paternity on his daughter.

1) Idiotic approach to cancer treatment you all would have scoffed at had your mouths not been full of his nuts
2) He was a farking crumb of a human being

Fark him and say your RIPs. I'll be here to be a dick like most others are in all the other death masturbation threads on fark.

You mean the one headline between August and the day he died?

Fri September 09, 2011: Main (score 100%)
CBS: Steve Jobs is Dead. Steve Jobs: Uh, wait a minute

Yea that's getting real old. Just admit you wanted to shiat on a dead guy (which is actually easier to do, as a dead guy can't move out of the way/defend himself) and we can move on.

I don't care so much about the billionaire thing. It was just nice that someone in a postion to act on his vision was able to ignore the analysts and just do what he thought was a great idea.
