Letters sent this week to targeted dispensaries in San Diego, San Francisco, Marin and elsewhere warn that California's medical marijuana law is no protection against property seizure or prosecution under federal law.

good luck enforcing those letter. there's what? over 150 dispensaries in that area? maybe more. I'll bet its a lot of ground to cover. And the feds will have to cover that ground without state or local help. even if the feds do manage to somehow organize a massive effort to seize over 150 odd dispensaries, they have a massive problem with jurisdiction. They can expect to get bogged down in a territorial pissing match.

I'm sure we would actually take a big chunk out of Organize Crime by legalizing Pot and Prostitution.

Plus a new revenue source for taxes.

You would think an inhaler like Obama would realize that...

No it isn't that hard.

They have signs outside. Many websites have helpful maps for location.

Federal Law trumps state law-especially with medical standards are concerned.

Until the FDA approves Mary Jane for medical use-the point is moot.

yeah, and it'll cost the fed a LOT of money, not to mention time and manpower, to raid those dispensaries. How many DEA agencies are in California? how many lawsuits will they have to fight at the same time? just how big IS their budget anyway? not big enough I'll bet.

The Government has all the time and money in the world if it has a bug up it's ass.

But the DOJ is getting the monied people to do the hard work. The Irvine Co. owns about 95% of the land in Southern California. By sending the letters to the landlords- who definitely don't want their shiat confiscated- many of the dispensaries will have their leases revoked. You've just lost at least 50% of those without the Government lifting a finger.

And it's air tight for the land lord: every lease has a clause demanding that all activities are "legal " So they could pull the plug with very little legal hassle.
.

i'm not a lawyer and even I know you can tie something like that up in court for decades.

the Fed isn't made of unlimited funds either - they start going after these dispensaries and they'll get bogged down in all kinds of court fights and territorial pissing matches at the state and local levels. in addition, while they're spending all that time and money going after the legal dispensaries, the guys running meth and heroin start getting a free pass to move more product.

this is exactly the kind of thing that will break the DEA. its the sort of fight they can only lose.

President Obama's administration/DEA have been raiding California Pot clubs almost everyday since Barack took office. Bush's administration pretty much left them alone. I know a lot of card holders who aren't voting for Obama again they'll go 3rd party.

/you wouldn't believe how many sick people between the ages of 18 & 25 there are in California almost all of them have their medical pot cards.

Are they enforcing the law because they need the assets or has Obama made a deal with the Republicans in order to get something else?

2011-10-06 10:40:15 PM
Is it just me, or does the article seem to say the Fed is going after dispensaries that break the law. Like ones that done pay taxes, keep irregular books, profiteering, etc.

Congratulations DOJ you're farking retarded.

The feds print money. They can fly out 4 large airplanes full of unfriendly guys in dark suits from DC and take them all out within an hour if they want.

These two things are not mutually exclusive.

How fast could this get to the SCOTUS if Governor Moonbeam decided to go to court?

shiat like this makes me wish obama had been caught with drugs. He openly admits having used weed and coke, yet if he got caught with either of those substances he would have went to jail (black guy with drugs is pretty much an automatic go to jail free card). Given he wouldn't be president if he had gotten caught, you would think he would get a farking clue.

2011-10-06 10:43:12 PM
Great way for the Obama administration to prove they have their priorities in order.

Let's spend ton's of dough busting and incarcerating pot dealers. Collecting tax revenues from legalized cannibus simply makes way too much sense.

The folks at the IRS can pin shiat like that on anyone.

Anyone.

Whoa dude. Let me get this straight. The 'makes it's own rules' DOJ wants to close down marijuana dispensaries? But not fast Freddies, right? That dude has some awesome shiat. Oh wait, I think he's safe. Cause like his place needs a special knock to get in, after you've maneuvered your way past all the snakes and spiders and vicious attack dogs.

/Wow heroin is some awessss, oh wait Marijuana, yea right, marijuana is what we is typing about. The herb that doesn't hurt anyone but the Pharmaceutical industries profits.
//What was that about g.w. Bush snorting cocaine off of some dead hookers butt and using his 'cheer-leading' as a cover to make it only look like he was gay and that he didn't do hard drugs at all.?

TFA:she warned San Diego's Ocean Beach Wellness Centers and Oasis Herbal Center marijuana stores that federal law trumps state law and "it is not a defense...that the dispensary is providing marijuana."

No, I don't think it seems remotely like that. They are going after people that sell pot for selling pot on the exact grounds by which Obama had stated they would NOT prosecute at a federal level.
