Good. Fark the system

If they have the money to pay the ticket, they also probably have the money to pay some more. Sound like a pretty solid plan.

Did they reboot it?

dv-ous: Did they reboot it?

The 83-year-old clerk of court is being rebooted as we speak (type?)

I'm betting a judge will just throw out hundreds or thousands of cases until this gets fixed.

This is Florida. Only the white folks will have their cases reviewed. EVeryone else will have to pay the tickets whether they actually own a car or not.

No wonder the system failed. A government entity paid less than 12 million dollars for a relatively simple software solution and they got shorted by a company who will no doubt collect millions more in contracts to fix it.

Sheesh, as if the govt. could contract ANYTHING worthwhile for only 3.5 million.

/Sees crap like this all the time folks
//All the time

good gods, sounds like the jackass my company hired to build me a new database. THE most worthless system 'created' by the most worthless human being. seriously, it was like opposite land in there!

How did I know it was Hillsborough County....

Not even remotely surprising. The greed, corruption, and blind ignorance up there is appalling.

Sadly, this happens all the time: folks find that they have a warrant out for their arrest or have a license suspension for a ticket they already paid. And our "friends" in the criminal justice system give not one damn.

If we cut off the money, they'll be forced to become what they prosecute.

Attention public officials.

Why do you hate America?
Why do you declare that terrorism is a heinous crime, and then when you get caught doing the same, you say it's your job?
Why does society allow you to do continue?
How long before we detect your terroristic ways and distribute the punishment that you deserve?

FTFA: "....hose left in charge appear to want to cover up the problems rather than allow the public to know what we have found out and what is really going on."

I'm shocked by such a revelation!

This, coupled with the news that the "red light" cameras were sending tickets (with pictures) to people who clearly went through the intersection on GREEN farkING LIGHT, I am going to have to call the Hillsborough County Government completely and utterly incompetent and / or corrupt. Probably both.

/this place scares me sometimes

Well duh! The people who paid obviously are good for more money. You don't chase down the deadbeats who are broke.

Of course it is. Safely taking money from you and giving it to them.

Sounds like the hosing I got nearly 30 years ago in Des Moines with my company car.

My boss called me into his office, pissed off that the home office was on his case about an overdue parking ticket on my company car. Trouble was, I never "got" one. I called city hall and was told it was on such and such a date at at parking meter # such and such. When I asked where that meter was, it turned out to be by some old warehouses in a part of town where I had never, ever been.

I suggested they might have misread the license plate or transposed numbers when writing the ticket. I asked if they had the make and model on the actual ticket. Yes they did. OK, can I see the carbon copy of the original ticket to see if the numbers are actually mine and if the make and model are the same as mine on the ticket. Nope, they lost the original. OK, then unless they could prove it by original documentation, I'm not paying as I know I have never parked there.

My boss didn't see it that way. "STFU and pay it, gaaadam it or you're fired."

I paid it.

Eh. I've always thought it was run-of-the-mill compared to the stories I've heard of Pasco and the inland counties (I mean, Mulberry's mayor got arrested last year for assaulting his transsexual roommate), much less the Chicagoland and N'awlins and Noo Yawk corruption.
