One of the rich people I actually liked. If Warren Buffet and Noam Chomsky kick the bucket anytime soon, I'll be a sad panda.

I know it's de rigeur to snark on Apple/Apple users, but I would love to have at least 1/10 of that man's intellect and vision. The things I could do with just that.

SON OF A biatch. Say what you like about him, his company and the products he created but the guy was a visionary genius. It's really too bad that we won't have whatever he would have created in the future to look forward to.

damn. 56 is too way too early.

Have made quite some hay with his products over the last ~25 years - when I bought a MacPlus w/ the university discount. No hard drive. Had to swap floppies to run an app and then save my working file. I got over it.

Loderunner game FTW then.

Now I love that it's pretty much std unix and can work with all the same class libraries that I use on the experimental compute clusters.

What's mildly depressing to me (still!) is that I had a reasonably significant Ameritrade account at the time that he regained control. Pondered moving everything over to Apple when he rejoined the fold. I knew he'd turn the company around. Knew it. It was at ~14 then IIRC and the hardware they were making at the time seriously sucked. I know, I owned some it. Should've pondered harder. That would've been a power move and I out-thought myself.

Call me a fanboy if you want. I am probably... I'll get over that too. cheers

So...i'm not much of a conspiracy guy but this may explain the lack of the iPhone 5. Stick with me here because it's gonna get a little crazy for a second.

Let's say that Steve Jobs actually passed away yesterday or the day before. Now Apple wouldn't want to announce his passing AND the release of the iPhone 5 because it could hurt sales since some folks may be worried about what will happen to Apple after his death. So they "hide" his death for a day or two and instead of announcing the the i5 like they were going to they announce an "upgraded" iPhone 4. That way if Sales are slow it won't really matter since there's not much of a difference in the phone anyway and probably less demand than there would be for a totally new design. So they'll probably wait a few months to see what the fallout from Jobs death is before suddenly announcing the iPhone 5 only it will be called the iPhone 5SJ in honor of Steve.

Or it could just be a coincidence.

Eather way cancer sucks and thanks Steve for some pretty cool shiat!

RIP Steve Jobs. Thanks for giving all of us the opportunity to be better than everyone else who didn't own Apple products. :(

That being said, I think he retired from Apple because he knew how serious his illness was. He may even knew that his illness was terminal.

Ugh, fark cancer. >_

Been a Mac guy since 1994, when I bought a PowerPC 7100/66.

Wish I had bought $10,000 in Apple stock when Steve came back..
