I'm going to sue.

5.4% is nothing. Watch for that number to approach 10% by Q4 2002.

Hmmm, maybe I should start working instead of typ

It is not going to get close to 10%. Our economy is not based on poor buisness practices like that of Europe.

The military doesn't fire people. Who's stupid now, Mr. Jobless High School Counselor?

Just in time for my pending graduation.

I've often wondered if I will one day lose my job to farking around to much. But once I close that Explorer window, the world just seems so cold.

2001-11-02 12:08:14 PM
Well, I got laid off, found Fark and don't look for work. When I do get some contract work, I ask if I can access the internet.

Chicklets! Chicklets! You buy my Chicklets!

2001-11-02 12:28:42 PM
Would "Chicklets" be Jack's offspring?

Hey, I hear the Twins, Expos, and Devil Rays are hiring.

I'm not too worried, considering that where I work is hideously understaffed. Europe has bad business practices, someone said? America's MUCH worse! All the big corporations care about is pleasing their shareholders and they just step on us peons who actually do the work and make them the money in the first place! And if you want to know, I work at Frito-Lay and so does my husband. The plant we work at has a pretty bad rep in our county for abusing their employees. That's okay. I'm getting myself some more education so I can get outta there!

Don't Panic.

Perhaps I can convince my boss that I spend all my time programming through a unique visual compiler called "Fark" that displays all logical elements with associated cliparts. Batboy, of course, represents an instance of user input...the many varieties of boobies can correlate quite nicely to arguments in the fine array of inventory we display, and Walken, well, Walken is the key to the universe in general, but that part is .

2001-11-02 01:53:17 PM
LadyAlexa, shareholders tend to be pleased by successful business, and if "stepping" on the "peons" saves/earns money in greater measure than it slows/costs the company via sagging morale, it becomes good business practice, however you fee about the humanitarian responsibility a company has to its employees. BTW, although it may seem like a real thorn in the corporate side, a constant flux of quitting and rehiring is good for a company: it keeps wages and salaries low.

2001-11-02 02:00:22 PM
Why can't all the unemployed farkers unite and start a big telecommuting geek corps or something... I dunno... there must be something with a bunch of bored and unemployed geeks/militants/radicals/etc. in one place who all share same interest in boobies/walken/etc. I'm not unemployed, but hell you guys would make a perfect company.

It's all Wil Wheaton's fsult.

Don't know why, but it is. :o)

I blame Wil Wheaton too! I spent a lot of time defending him! And I am not even a Star Wars fan.

I wonder how many of those people harbor a grudge against their former place of employment (like myself) and own a gun (like myself) and keep it loaded (like myself) and sleep with it under the pillow (like myself).

2001-11-02 02:39:47 PM
Raijin, are you married? If so, is that gun pointed at your wife?

2001-11-02 03:14:36 PM
Wil was in Star Wars?

This would be so easy to fix if I could just reroute around the damaged ODN relays, reconfigure the auxiliary isoliniar array and link Data's positronic brain to the main computer so he can control the main deflector with more precision.

2001-11-02 04:22:20 PM
See what Wil does? He infects farkers! :o) (wondering when Wil is gonna smack me for picking on him)

We are taking a pounding here in the Telecom Corridor. Nortel, Ericsson, Alcatel, MCI/Worldcom, Nokia, NEC and Cisco have all laid-off tons of people and dozens of start-ups have gone out of business. We were all tickled pink when Lockheed got the JSF contract. It has little to do with our industry but it was so nice to hear that someone in Dallas/Ft. Worth would be hiring instead of laying-off.

2001-11-02 05:06:33 PM
Oddly enough I just lost my job today, too.... It kind of looks like a lot of the small businesses are losing out. Well, the one I worked for certainly did.

2001-11-02 05:25:21 PM
Haha, that's , I just got hired at a new job today. Now it's time for a different dead-end factory job!

2001-11-02 05:26:04 PM
Er, that was supposed to say "that's ironic." Don't ask.

2001-11-02 06:10:23 PM
Not working here either.

It'll hit double digits easy, just like it did last time we had a "trickle down" moron in charge.

Hey, I start a part time weekend job tomorrow. I went in today for some last minute training, and got most of my work out of the way. I asked "What else can I do, if I got my work out of the way?" I was told, "Idon'tknow, surf the internet?"

cooooool

2001-11-02 07:15:36 PM
this is why i feel conflicted about pouring what little money i have back into the economy.its like im rewarding companies for laying off workers and taking the easy way out.

conjecture follows:
most of these companies have prolly been looking to downsize for a while and this presents the perfect excuse.
