But is she hot? that's what makes a news story important.

Weaver95: But is she hot? that's what makes a news story important.

She is, so that answers your question.

Curiously, the girl she allegedly killed was rather attractive too- also British, so the tabloids over there are crucifying Knox. Saw a Daily Fail article today listing all the reasons she's guilty and wrapping it up with "by the way, all the forensic evidence was thrown out and would've been awful enough for a judge to throw out the case in Britain" in the last paragraph, and I found that quite funny.

And the American media likewise have pretty much been supportive of Knox every step of the way.

Exactly. By this point it would be impossible to figure out if she's guilty or not if you tried, both have such a slant.

can we get a report on them tittays? Is she washing them now, preferably in a communal shower?

No matter what the story is, coverage eventually morphs into the media covering itself, because what could be more interesting than that?

Just an American living abroad being railroaded by a corrupt justice system. Nothing most Americans would interrupt their third helping of pie over.

An American student, who, while "studying" abroad, either helped off her roommate or got convicted for it despite not being part of it. By "studying" I mean she was running around being a drug-addled skank. The Italian "justice" system completely messed up the forensic investigation and basically called her names enough times to get a conviction.

Even without the hot/crazy chart. Drawing a blank on who might be hot enough to make me overlook that she may have killed her toddler daughter.

But I've known lots of reasonably-sane women who wanted to murder their roommates.....

So the only interesting thing about this is the dickwaving/swordfighting with Italy, since it sounds like this wouldn't even get past local news if it was just a US thing.

You are right. If this happened in the US, we wouldn't have heard about it. The US justice system is farking horrible, but it would have thrown this case out on its ass a long time ago.

She was more than happy to pin the blame on an entirely innocent man, Patrick Lumumbu, and continued to do so until he showed he had an alibi and wasn't there. If he'd have been convicted, she wouldn't have said a thing.

2011-10-01 07:12:29 PM
Can we please remember the real victim here? A girl whose throat was cut while trying to fend off a violent sexual assault. The US media coverage of the case has been disgusting. Disagree with me? Imagine it was the other way round for a moment and the victim was an attractive young American girl.

2011-10-01 07:16:45 PM
So, here on Fark, we are reporting the fact that the media is reporting the fact that the media is pouring into town to report on the conclusion of the trial, right?

She pinned the blame on the guy after she'd been interrogated for about fourteen hours and the police interrogating her fed her his name as a prompt. Saying it like she skipped into the police station to accuse him for shiats and giggles isn't too accurate either.

Fully agreed that the primary victim is the girl who was raped and murdered. However, I cannot see why Knox and her boyfriend, who by all reasonable standards should never even have gone to trial, cannot be considered peripheral victims here as well. Thinking that Knox should not be in jail is not the same as saying that the murder victim doesn't matter -- just that it helps nobody and does no honour to the victim's memory to put the wrong people in jail for it. (Especially since it looks like the actual perpetrator actually got his sentence reduced by changing his story to include Knox and her boyfriend as his co-perpetrators).

I love the way people like you make up complete bullshiat and the try and pass it off as fact. Aside from the fact that you're the only person in the world currently spouting this particular fairy tale, why would they have "fed" her Lumumba's name? They weren't even remotely interested in him. It was obvious from the very beginning that Knox was at very least involved, and most likely a direct participant.

Amazing how everyone's suddenly an expert on just how corrupt the Italian ""justice"" system is. WTF. If anything, all other things (as in, contaminated evidence) being equal, they're going to err on the side of sentencing a white person, because it would be too politically incorrect to wrongly accuse a black person. Racism is a sensitive issue in Italy, unlike in the peerlessly wonderful American justice system.

I have no idea about her guilt, but she did try to pin it on someone else and leave it on him well after her 14-hour interrogation was over, which doesn't win her any points. And I thought it was strange how she and her boyfriend were hugging and smiling calmly at the scene of the crime. Rather detached behavior for people who've just found their roommate with a slit throat, but maybe they're two of a kind and that was the attraction.

Also, I don't think she's that hot, for what it's worth. Sunken eyes and pretty average-featured, really. If she weren't up for a sex crime no one would think she was a stand-out on a normal university campus. It's not so much a studman point I'm making as one about how bizarre I find it when the public/media turn average looking or sometimes slightly above average looking accused criminals into gorgeous sex symbols. I'll be glad when this appeal's finished. Sure, they'll probably get love letters in prison but at least it won't feel like being right in the midst of such sick sycophancy anymore.

That's the story I read, too. From Rolling Stone, IIRC. But I came in here to say it's no great shock, that if a 'news' org sends a reporter over to Italy, they're going to want some copy every day.

Great work Sherlock. Do you have ANY evidence he was the article's author or that he knows the person who was?

And what difference would it make anyway? If my girl was so brutally murdered I'd be very anxious that the person doing time for it was the actual murderer.

Andromeda: Curiously, the girl she allegedly killed was rather attractive too- also British, so the tabloids over there are crucifying Knox...

Oh yeah, rough rule of thumb used by any educated Briton of average intelligence: If the tabloids are for it I'm against it.
So if the red tops say she's a murdering slag then I proceed on the assumption that she should probably be shaken by the hand... and maybe invited to tea with the queen as well.
Honestly our tabloid press are shiate, arrogant shiate too. as they feel their ignorant opinions on law making and justice should drown out those of educated professionals. Which they frequently do.

By the way. Guess what the victim, Meredith Kercher's father does for a living? Tabloid Journalist! (Seeing how this works yet?)

Anyway. Didn't someone once say you can judge a person by their enemies? By that standard Knox looks pretty good.

Funk Brothers: So hot attractive women can get away with crimes or is she because she's a white American?

So she's guilty because she's an attractive, white American is that it?
Seems to me there's a lot of hate for her because she's pretty, I don't get why but such seems to be the case. Don't believe she'd have these problems if she was homely with acne.

I think she's guilty of acting rudely and inappropriately like an immature young idiot and I probably wouldn't like her if I met her but none of those things makes it right to put her and Sollecito through this ordeal.

The only fact is that she was interrogated for 14 hours without a lawyer. So everything she said could easily be bullshiat.

No genius, she's guilty because a judge and jury found her guilty. You know. Due process. Trial of law. All that good stuff. As opposed to "trial by random people on the Intertube,s giving their opinions based off Fark headlines."
