Highway61Revisited: Kyro: -- is homeless, his fortune stolen by a lethal combination of excess, substance abuse and financial mismanagement.

And my sympathy just went out the window.

That's rather cold.

Addiction is a helluva thing to go through. Also, from that article, it seems he's got some serious psychiatric pathology going on... sounds like he's got some flavor of psychosis/paranoid schizophrenia.

The tag is appropriate. He's a national treasure.

So...he's NOT responsible for his actions?
Seriously?
I bet you voted for Obama.

And he's a musician and an unemployable one at that, NOT a 'national treasure'; just a another guy who started to believe his own hype.

Your name is really appropriate.

There's a difference between "he's not responsible for his actions" and "it's sad that he got caught up i n addiction."

It's important to read the headlines carefully.

He wasn't with The Clash silly. Sly is a 70's R&B guy.

Uh, that's a Neil Young song, but he wasn't with Crazy Horse either.

Yep.

I bet you think your comment counts as an original thought; it doesn't.

The guy did this to himself and is not 'an American treasure' and if you still think so you need to re-examine your priorities.

Next time someone advocates legalizing drugs, think of this guy. If 40 out of 80 of you neighbors were too strung out to pay their mortgage or common charge, your condo association would be looking at you to make up the difference.

This is really really sad. He needs help. I've always held out hope that he could comeback, for real. I even bought his new CD because I wanted to give it a chance, even if it didn't look good (it wasn't). But this is just depressing now. He's got to kick that stuff if he's even going to survive, much less come back, at this point.

Kilgore Trout: Article is bullshiat. He still has a nice, secluded place near Calistoga.

He's so elusive that apparently no one knows this.

Stone has been difficult to pin down for years. In the last two decades, he's become one of music's most enigmatic figures, bordering on reclusive. You'd be forgiven for assuming he's dead. He rarely appears in public, and just getting him in a room requires hours or years of detective work, middlemen and, of course, making peace with the likelihood that he just won't show up.

All of the Cocaine that he has smoked over the years has eaten his brain and left him paranoid and mentally ill. I remember once I saw a documentary about him and they had said for a few years he was living in Hawaii and playing trombone in a hotel band under a assumed name because he was afraid that the FBI was after him and he was hiding out. From what I understand he does have some money and has a little property so he shouldn't be homeless, however when his paranoia kicks in he takes off and is very hard to find. And most of his paranoia revolves around the FBI.

Prince spent a lot of his latest tour playing Sly's old hits including:

"I want to thank you
Falettinme
Get mice elf
Avan"

Wonder if he kicked down anything.

He should be doing OK off samples alone. Commercials, too.

It's sad because the druggie lowlife screwed himself out of a good living?

Hmm... don't tell me FARK is getting sentimental these days...

Lots of poor Americans are happy about this, because it makes them feel better about themselves.

Mainstream American politics and media do a good job of pitting the poor against the even poorer so they have no idea who the real enemy is.

2011-09-26 01:53:21 AM
The main reason he is broke is because he got basically conned into selling his music catalog in 1984 for $1 million dollars. The man who bought it? Michael Jackson.

2011-09-26 01:56:49 AM
I'd pay to see him perform.

I would.

I totally read that at Sly Stallone and didn't believe it for a second.

Sooo I knew the Clash talked about something like that, and Googled Clash down by the river. Of course it's in London Calling he says he lives by the river. RIGHT when the results page came up, London Calling began playing on Pandora (set on the Damned). What makes that a little spooky instead of just concidental is that London Calling has some relevance in my recently ended last romance - it was a dark and horrific thing, as she was an actual psychopath, thanks for asking - and I've been rather avoiding that album. *shudders*

To be fair, the FBI did have a hand in farking with many public figures back in Sly's time...especially if they were advocates of multiculturalism and equality - something he was known for through the composition of his band.

/Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you...

If you got "conned" into selling your catalog for $1 million dollars and you live in a van, your problem was not Michael Jackson.

And say what you want about MJ's personal life, but the man was a schrewd business person, just ask Paul McCartney.

You know you've hit rock bottom when you're the assistant to a homeless guy. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, you might want to read a little bit of the article.)
