Kansas State just felt privileged to take its talent to South Beach.

Compared to UMass, the U is pretty respectable.

...the Wildcats...won despite being outgained 411-398.

It's rare to overcome such a one-sided affair.

Awesome, now their loss to Baylor next week will be even more disheartening.

Mart Laar's beard shaver: Kansas State just felt privileged to take its talent to South Beach.

They actually said this on the broadcast at one point last night, apparently unaware that they were 40-some miles away from South Beach.

The Albuquerque-based KSU alumni watch party was pretty fired up yesterday. It was a fun game to watch, then crushing, then it ended with a roar at the reversed Miami touchdown call.

So does the transitive property mean Ohio State really sucks

That's fantastic. All the sheep that jumped on the let's get out of this conference bandwagons were idiots. The Big 12 was probably the best conference in the country (when you look at all sports collectively). I hope it stays together and I'm sorry to see some of the best rivalries dissolve.

K-State played UCLA the last two years and Auburn just before that....it's time for that misconception to go away. Most teams now play one major non-con and a couple cupcakes.

and they beat USC in Los Angeles in 2001. Which is probably still more impressive than beating UCLA last year

What's even funnier is that Miami was supposed to be Ohio State's one respectable nonconference opponent. Which they lost.

I made the comment several times that the Pac 16 was not as happy an alternative as a corrected Big 12, but I was ready to go that way if Tech was. I'm glad things worked out like they did. If a couple of good basketball schools come in, the Big 12 will be right up there with the big eastern conferences (big east, acc come to mind) for basketball prowess.

How much shall we bet that Miami still gets some top 25 votes by nut-swingers? Some day, they'll become the first zero win team to play for the championship. Book it.

Props to Miami for playing a couple of BCS teams OOC. Obviously not an SEC team (minus LSU; who's kicking ass and taking names).
