Nice to see America get a little closer to "with liberty and justice for all."

I thought this kind of thing would fall under the "pursuit of happiness" clause.

What pursuit of happiness clause?

Yes, because I think someone is an attention whore I obviously was molested as a child. /sarcasm Respond to the substance a message. Don't throw around ad hominems.

The best part of Coming Out Day (as today should hereafter be known) is how much the actual military personel do not give a fark. Really. Listen: here that? It's the sound of the military not imploding. The only ones who were ever really upset en masse about gays in the military were the religious right whackadoodle politicians. The ones with the wide stances.

Anyone who is completely secure in their own sexuality, as are the large majority of the service personel getting it done on a daily basis, has no reason to fear those who are different. And the ONLY reason to get all up in anyone else's sex life is fear.

"Because Jesus" my ass.

This is a good day.

Good. The next step is for a bunch of openly gay and married servicemen and women to ask their Congressperson to explain why their legal spouses of can't enjoy the same benefits as heterosexual spouses. Hopefully this conversation will take place on TV. I think the sputtering scramble of a response from the official questioned would be the last nail in DOMA's coffin.

/I would LOVE for the question to come up at a Presidential debate.

Well, that and the equal protection clause.

Gwendolyn: This guy called his Dad at 2:45 AM Germany time (whatever zone that is) to come out (new window)

I think this is going to be one huge coming out day for military folks now that they can.

If my brat called me at 0245 and there wasn't blood or jail involved, I'd retroactively abort the twerp, regardless of sexual orientation.

you know how they separate the men from the boys in the navy? with a crowbar...

it appears their ceremony was presided over by John Locke... or maybe that's the man in black...

Then it MIGHT be okay, until I realized they were UP AT 0245 CALLING ME WITH THIS USELESS CRAP. Any kid of mine staying up until 0245 to make a damn call would be immediately subject to a blood test, as there's no way my genes are talking then. It can wait until a decent hour, on both our parts. It waited 20-odd years, it can wait another 20 hours.

Tatsumaki Senpuu-Kyaku!: Alphax: A Fark Handle: good for them.

but 33 and 49? sounds like someone is a gold digger...i kid, but "equal" rights mean equal shiat, so 16 years is pushing towards the mockable boundary.

Somehow I doubt either is worried about age related birth defects. Course, perhaps they DO have plans about children..

I think he's worried that this sweet, innocent 33-year-old is being taken advantage of.

actually not worried at all. they're adults. just sometimes i laugh/mock/ponder when there are such age differences in relationships. it's like everything in life, fun to ridicule...but no harm is truly meant.

How do gay people meet? Honest question, how does someone who thinks he's gay meet other gays? Do I just go to a gaybar alone like a loser?

That, or the internet, or gay clubs at school, or pride events, or occasionally just like normal people meet.

Depending on where you live, there are entire gay soccer/baseball/football/bowling leagues out there. Oddly enough, there are gay churches too.
