Jimmy crashed a plane in Reno, just to watch some people die.

2011-09-16 09:00:32 PM
Isn't this like the 4th needless plane crash in the last month or so?

anyone want to tell me what an 80 year old is doing flying a physically demanding aircraft?

/besides crashing it into onlookers

2011-09-16 09:04:20 PM
This guy had ZERO business being in a plane like that at his age. It's time for the FAA to install an age limit of 65 for aerobatics and racing licenses.
/Has FAA air dispatch license

2011-09-16 09:04:21 PM
I just turned on the TV in time to see a second P-51 hit the other airshow.
America is under attack.

2011-09-16 09:04:29 PM
Wow, right into the seating area. How scary.

I hope the remaining injured survive.

He had to have been cleared physically, as you know. It's not like driver's licenses.

I dont trust anyone over 75 in anything more powerful then a Rascal.

2011-09-16 09:06:35 PM
This is a real blow for anyone who gives a fark about warbirds and classic aircraft in general.

RIP Jimmy.

There are few 80 year olds that should be DRIVING, let alone operating a plane at a farking air race.

2011-09-16 09:08:01 PM
Ah man, a P-51? :(

2011-09-16 09:08:04 PM
Ah yes, I remember, I had the lasagna.

2011-09-16 09:08:55 PM

CNN and MSNBS covering this live. Sean Hannity.... Obama scandal! Scandal! Scandal!

2011-09-16 09:09:57 PM
I left the races about an hour before this happened. We may have just lost a bunch of good people. :(

I watched an earlier heat from right where he hit.

2011-09-16 09:10:03 PM
I thought pilots weren't allowed to fly near/over spectators at air shows after previous disasters...

2011-09-16 09:10:25 PM
This sucks - I hope and pray the injured recover fully and I pray for those who lost loved ones.

2011-09-16 09:10:30 PM

GhostJax: And he bailed out?

At that height? Not bloody likely. The altitude they race at is just high enough for your parachute to open up enough to give you a burial shroud.

2011-09-16 09:11:04 PM
I guess the only positive thing is it was just a P-51. Not exactly a rare aircraft. Not even a veteran a/c.

2011-09-16 09:11:19 PM
Aircraft that went down :
airpigz.com

Ya know at 80 flying warbird racers probably resulted in a heart attack...

2011-09-16 09:11:20 PM

I know more than you: I thought pilots weren't allowed to fly near/over spectators at air shows after previous disasters...

They forgot to add a rule about crashing into them.
