Would that he had perished instantly in the crash. Dying days later from burns has got to be one of the worst ways to go.

I've been in ICU from burn injuries I got 1 time. If it's anything like I went through it was excruciating pain at first till they got the demerol in him.

Where will they bury the survivor?

/the question actually makes sense in this case

He's Ukrainian?

Finally an answer to the question where do you bury the survivors.

/I'll take a window seat.

At least Yaroslavl Lokomotiv is all back together. I don't know what it would be like mentally to be the sole survivor in such a horrific event, much less when all the victims are people you care about.

Damn these phone calls that happen when I'm about to post! Jeez, people actually expect me to do work sometimes around here.

"Boris...we must pour more vodak on the wounds..."

Oh and this statement:

"Despite continuing therapy using all possible contemporary treatment, Alexander Galimov died from severe burns in the burn center of the Vishnevsky Institute of Surgery,"

"Contemporary treatment" in Russia can best be described as ½ modern science, ½ 18th century bloodletting, and ½ voodoo and general quackery.

I'm betting all of them.

The medical staff. It is a truly horrible situation there.

Back in 1985 there was a Electra crash here with a sole survivor: George Lamson Jr. from Galaxy Airlines Flight 203. He's currently taking part in filming a documentary about exactly that experience - being the sole survivor of a horrific accident. Link (new window)

Pretty much. I can't imagine.

If you ever get bad burns you will learn one term that changes your life: debride (something that medieval torturers couldn't even have thought of)

I can relate. My father was flying PSA from San Francisco back to LAX when PSA 1771 happened. The problem was that we didn't know his flight number and we didn't learn for a couple hours that this crash was the opposite direction as his flight. My mother and I were both kinda stunned and not sure what to do. If his trip had been one day later, this was the flight he would likely have been on.

I guess if you fly enough you'll have a near miss or two like this.

/Found an old ticket stub of mine a few years back from UAL 175 from 1999. Shoulda kept it...

Q: "Cold."

Q: "And dark. Please let in."

We adopted our son from Vladivostok in 2009, and had to have an 8 doctor health evaluation. We spent a full day walking up and down the 9 floors of the Vladivostok Main Hospital as there was only one elevator that fit 4 people in it at one time.

We had to do chest X-rays to prove we didn't have TB with what could have been the original X-ray machine. And the worst part was we had to do the X-rays twice because our lungs were larger than the film they took the first batch with. Yay Radiation.

Most everything in far Eastern Russia felt like it was from the 60s. You would walk in a building that looked like it was abandoned or condemned in some cases but one floor up was a medical office (from the 60s).

Quite an different experience but everything worked out in the end.

That was more painful than the burns to go through. However, they did a good job and left little scarring as a result. I was told to avoid sunlight as much as possible. That's why I later moved to Austin TX.

/SRSLY though, SCVMC on Bascom Ave, thank you.

I would go with the maggot therapy myself in that instance

He had a dad, a wife and a little girl of about 4. He was concious enough to talk to them a bit at one point.

I believe he was in a medically induced coma the entire time he was hospitalized. I don't think he had clue one what had happened.

/Horrible tragedy.

The only scrap of good news is that the other survivor is the Flight Engineer, and he's apparently in relatively good shape. So there's a decent chance of figuring out what happened, which at this point is still pretty much a mystery.

i'm making a clone of the zombie baseball/cricket flash game. It will start that whole hockey team as zombie trying to get to you while you try to score goals. I'm looking for artists atm. Thanks

I have done work testing chemicals for EPA registration. For some of the stuff we tested, I'd just as soon the company put a skull&crossbones on the label. There are things I wouldn't wish on a rat let alone a human.
