So far, it's a little breezy, a little damp. This, however, is likely to change. :) Wish us luck...

2003-09-18 10:48:22 AM
Last night, my GF and i stayed up late and drank bourbon and laughed at the people on the television.

(good luck, Kiribub!)

2003-09-18 11:28:19 AM
I'm in D.C., which is shut down. I'm yawning. This is stupid.

2003-09-18 12:34:22 PM
Good Luck guys,

It is a little breezy down here, I would say we dodged a bullet.

You guys should be getting the worst right now.

I will drink a beer to all the soaked farkers.

2003-09-18 12:45:05 PM
The wind is really starting to pick up in Youngsville N.C.
We're just getting started. I wonder how long the power will stay on?

2003-09-18 01:40:15 PM
They usually shut the power down (at least here they do) to reduce risk of fire.

Hope you guys have lots of cold beer

2003-09-18 01:59:53 PM
OH SHIAT!!!!

only 2 beers left- good thing there's bourbon... dang, didn't even think of the beer....

2003-09-18 02:17:54 PM
Only 2 beers, Yeah that shiat happened to me during Floyd (which was a joke down here) I am all boarded up and turns out that the local tackle shop around the corner was full of volunteer firement and cops drinking beer. Man was I pissed off that they didn't call.

Jerks

good god I'm tired of this hurricane garbage. I can't wait for it to be through so I can stop hearing about it.

2003-09-18 07:10:38 PM
seriously, isn't anyone else tired of hearing about it?

2003-09-18 07:17:19 PM
You people in DC aren't doing the hurricane justice unless you have a hurricane party.

2003-09-18 07:18:02 PM
I saw a leaf move on the ground here in Indiana.

2003-09-18 08:38:50 PM
Was...trying...to write memories of storm here 20 miles north of DC..but water rising too fast, house flooding, doors trapped by fallen trees, don't think i'm gonna make it out. Remember, I loved all you Farkers.....

Ahh hell, who am I kiddin'? It's been raining and lots of strong wind, but that's it. Of course, come see me in 2040 or 2050, grandchildren sitting around the hologram, while I tell them, " That ain't nothin. Why, back in aught 3, we had us a storm, name a Isabel. That was a real hurricane then, not some little wind like your Hurricane J-Lo today.

2003-09-18 08:40:13 PM
Oh, and forgot to mention, I'll be tellin the yunguns about how Fark members didn't have numbers in the 8 or 9 digits back in my day.

I get off work in 45 minutes, going to hit every puddle I see on the drive home, then I am going to crank up a movie and get drunk.

2003-09-18 10:15:14 PM
Im here at home with the windows boarded up, twenty four metric tonnes of water in the basement in individual pint size bottles, slim jims, and I'm sitting by the front door with a 12 guage surrounded by ammunition.

If I see even a drop of water here in PA i'm going to start going postal on the neighborhood.

It's dark here in Arkansas, local newscaster says it won't clear up til morning.

2003-09-18 10:17:18 PM
Some reporter standing outside got blown
over by the hurricane and I laughed.

2003-09-18 10:17:31 PM
I'm in KY. I have bourbon, my wife, Head and a bed. Where's the wind blowing?

2003-09-18 10:17:37 PM
It's been really nice here today. A little breezy, but otherwise calm.

Of course, I'm 1200 miles form the storm...

2003-09-18 10:17:44 PM
Am curious to know what bourbon you have chosen to drink during the festivities...hopefully it isn't some mass-produced swill like Beam (and FYI, Jack Daniels isn't considered bourbon).... for those of you who haven't tried any small batch stuff, it's great. I give thumbs up to Woodford Reserve, Knob Creek & Bookers....

2003-09-18 10:18:01 PM
Concord, NH - ain't no thang but a chicken wing. Got a margarita, some books to study, I'm all set.

2003-09-18 10:18:17 PM
I saw some report of some big storm coming in. We're not worried, we're used to a little rain around here.

"Does whiskey count as beer?" (Homer)

All this hurricane coverage is rather overblown (no pun intended), especially in New York. Once again a big hurricane touched down where most of the big hurricanes usually hit...

My school sent us a hurricaine precaution email.

Which wouldn't be strange except for the fact I'm at SYRACUSE, 300 miles from any ocean and a billion light years from the tropics.

Hurricaines aren't supposed to farking hit Syracuse. We're supposed to be under fifteen feet of snow by now.

2003-09-18 10:19:09 PM
Drove home and i had to use my windshield wipers. Once in awhile.

School's cancelled tomorrow yay.

My fiance and I got bored and decided to pop "Catch Me if you Can" into the DVD player.

It took about 5 hours to watch, the power kept going out. We'd be thrilled to get past a chapter, just so we knew where we could start after the power came back on.

Gotta say, though, I love being in Raleigh. Only place in the world where you'll see local news in full HDTV. Those waves looked neat!

2003-09-18 10:19:24 PM
philly - it's raining and windy. yep.

farking High School Homecoming Footb all game on Saturday. Oh well, I'm, like, 4th string fatass O-Line anyways. A vote for me is a vote for our entire 1st-3rd string being drowned.

Nature's giving us the best blowjob in quite some time here in South NJ. They say the heavy stuff's coming in tonight.

HIGGLEDY...I Work and live in Woodford Co. KY.....I LOVE Woodford Reserve.

2003-09-18 10:21:57 PM
Oh yea, I also support a bunch of grocery stores out in the Carolinas. All of them have battened down the hatches, shut down the power, etc. BTW, reports from the stores are that all the batteries, bottled water, milk and bread are gone. WTF? Milk and bread? WHY do people do that? The milk will spoil if/when the power goes out, and the bread will be useless when wet. Now where's my next screwdriver?

2003-09-18 10:21:59 PM
I'm sitting at my desk making sure that the system that monitors the DC metro area's power outages stays healthy. Giddy up.

2003-09-18 10:22:38 PM
I looked out my office window and saw some wispy clouds... a cool breeze blew out of the east... it was a pleasent day.

Hurricane's are for pussies. Its a nor'easter without the snow. Bah...

2003-09-18 10:22:52 PM

Actually, wouldn't Hurricane J-Lo be a huge thing that destroys everything it touches?

/A vote for me is a vote for a Canadian in a hurricane's path.

Apparently there are hundreds of thousands without electricity in the south... so Isabel has caused a slight increase there.

Alexandria, VA, representin'. It seems the apocalypse passed us by; it's rather quiet here and has been for the last couple of hours.

2003-09-18 10:24:44 PM
In western mountains of NC, this blows! Not much else and I can't drink since I'm on call. Have fun, ya'll!

2003-09-18 10:24:50 PM
Actually, wouldn't Hurricane J-Lo be a huge thing that destroys everything it touches?

No, it's just a hurricane where the thickest of the storm occurs once the eye has past your location.

Baltimore reporting in. It's blowing like hells bells, nearly go tblown off the road on the way home from work. Power's still on (obviously) but its hiccupped a few times. Lucky I still have my Y2K flashlights!

-Oh yeah, some chick in a gingham dress flew by a while ago

and her little dog too.

2003-09-18 10:27:53 PM

2003-09-18 10:29:13 PM
well, its wet and windy, gotta go get some sleep. I live in Los Angeles.

2003-09-18 10:31:04 PM
um, wouldn't it follow logic that most of the areas being hit hardest by the hurricane would be without power, and therefore be unable to tell their stories?

2003-09-18 10:32:39 PM

Looks like O'l Virginnie's gettin its ass kicked...

My Isabel story: today was about 80-ish with perfectly clear skies. Should be the same tomorrow.

2003-09-18 10:36:40 PM
I watched Battle of Midway on AMC.

2003-09-18 10:36:41 PM
I live in Maryland near DC. It's 10:20pm when the worst is supposed to hit, it's barely raining and every now then a loud gust comes by. They shut down subway and bus service at 11am. Foreign tourists on TV didn't know why. Neither do I.
