Its no safer than it was ever. You now have to give up your liberty, dignity, privacy, and any form of self-respect you ever had. Safer however? No.

Great. Another nine eleven story. It's like the terrorists don't ever have to do anything ever again. It's clear they already won. I almost wish something else would happen on a different day because I am tired of hearing about 9/11 this and that.

Better how? Better than before what?

The TSA should be killed off. We should go back to what passenger airport security was prior to 9/11.

Look, man. You knew the risks when you chose to wear that uniform. But if you want to work at Burger King, you have to just accept that it's part of the job.

the TSA has nothing to with that though. It has everything to do with the fact that every passenger will beat the ever loving sh*t out of anyone who tries to pull anything now.

Someone could smuggle on a Mossberg 500 and they would still get the crap kicked out of them because they'd get mobbed after the first 5 rounds when the gun ran dry.

Bullshiat.

The private screeners did nothing wrong. They executed the SOP that The Government ordered them to do. Bush had the 8/6/01 memo, decided to do nothing, then in classic knee-jerk form, assembled the TSA.

Now we have The Government doing things on a daily basis that most people would get put onto a sex offender registry list.

I flew on 9/11 a couple of years back with the intent on parking at the airport ramp for the duration (about a week).

For some sort of nine-eleveny reason, the ramp right by the terminals was closed completely. I flew into a rage over my bieng inconvenienced, but quickly cooled down after some reflection on the day.

They sent me and the other parkers to a near by ramp that required shuttle service back to the terminal.

I flew into another rage at bieng packed in with 10 others who also do all they can in their day to day lives to avoid bieng seen on any sort of bus/train.

I quickly cooled down after more reflection.

The good news was that in order to compensate us (me) for our (my) troubles, parking would be only five dollars, no matter how long the trip.

Every year that date comes around... I remember how little I paid for long term parking.

I remember.

Flying out of the local airport always makes me feel kinda pervy because there are a couple really hot TSA agents there who are also friendly, which makes for some interesting pre-flight times. I'm always more worried that I might pitch a tent if I got patted down than any loss of liberty, though I can't say I haven't hoped to get singled out.

No pat downs for me, though.

Flew a morning United flight from Newark to SFO like 2 years after 9-11. Depart Newark at 8am. That used to be Flight 93. Now, I think they designate as flight 94 or something like that.

I didn't notice that until someone in SF a few days later mentioned that to me that I flew the old flt 93 route. Not really a big deal. Sort of morbid, I guess.

I already fear and loathe flying, so it can't get much worse. Flying 9/12 to California and 9/13 to Bali. Hmmm...maybe I should be more afraid. Meh, enough complimentary wine and I won't feel a thing.

Sorry to disappoint, but they wouldn't pat you down anyway as it has to be an agent of the same sex as the passenger. So you'd probably get felt up by a fat guy who smelled of McDonalds and BO.

/Though it would be awkward to pitch a tent as you were looking at the hotties while being felt up by the fat guy

Yes. Unless you're using a time machine first. and going on one of the flights. Of course if you DO have a time machine, I wonder why you haven't you gone back and shot the bastards, but that's besides the point.

I'm guessing you don't really fly that often. Either that or I'm special as the couple times I've flown about this year(Chicago and Dallas) went totally uneventful and hassle free. I was even allowed to escort my kids to their gate on the ir way out of the country to visit their relatives even though I personally didn't even have a ticket.

I'm guessing all you anti-TSA Farkers (probably the same one's with police issues as well) are either total smart-asses enough to get yourselves the latex glove treatment or more likely, just hopping aboard the "I hate authority" train as a platform to biatch about the man getting you down. Judging from all the ITG-esque behavior in here, I'm guessing the latter.

As mentioned in similar threads, I deal with medical sales and service engineers who fly all the time and none of them have come up with tales even close to the whoppers mentioned in here. I did know one who had a rough time with the police after they caught him speeding on camera, but to be fair, he was doing 70+mph in a construction zone...

I will be flying again in December- I'll report back if I expirience any TSA love along the way.

No doubt. First we have a president more stupid than bin Laden who does all the work for ObL; overreacted on his own ppl who did nothing, started wars, tortured ppl, etc. Then our current prez nearly as stupid as the last prez, has ObL shot in the middle of the night instead of turned over to the ICC. This makes ObL into a martyr and sets an example of extra-judicial execution in a time when we continually goad other countries to hand over former dictators to the ICC. In other words, all it apparently took was WTC and his death for ObL to realize his entire dream of creating a nearly endless religious war and the destruction of the US' economy and credibility. "Mission accomplished" by ObL courtesy of our own elected Presidents and legislators.

Some jobs actually require no training as you get on the job training. In fact almost ALL jobs end up being on the job training. Why would the TSA be any different?

On Dylan Ratigan today they were discussing what if 9/11 never happened. One of the guests said regarding security measures(paraphrasing), "Now we're all black"

/They pretty much came to the conclusion that we were on the path to stricter government security and if 9/11 didn't happen some other event would have been the catalyst.

Hope so. Am flying to a Muslim-majority country on that day. I think my girlfriend (from that Muslim-majority country) is more concerned about my flying on 9/11 than me.

I'm just pissed off I've somehow got to find some US dollars or some Euros to take with me to pay the visa fee, rather than anything else.

Amazing. Sort of glad someone would take, arguendo, the position it was inevitable, but still amazes me it happened here 9/11 or no. The new DoHS building supposedly as large as the Pentagon, for example? The setup is beginning to appears Stasi-esque.
