FTFA: "An inventor blew out his windows and part of his roof when his home-made vodka kit exploded in his bedroom. Lawrence Toms, 43, was tinkering with his vodka distillation equipment when neighbours suddenly heard a massive blast blowing out the windows and the roof of his home."

How exactly do you have so much alcohol in the air that it becomes explosive, but not notice you're getting drunk by breathing?

And this is exactly what the guy should look like. I think if I read the article with no picture and someone asked me to describe the guy, this is exactly what I would describe.

ooh, they even busted out the think of the children...
FTFA: "It's crazy, you don't go making something like that in a terrance street especially when there's lots of kids about."

It would be funny if he drank because of the kids around the neighborhood.

As an ex-home distiller, i think he probably had a leak between the column and whatever he was using as a boiler for the mash. Probably using propane or kerosene, like a Coleman stove.

Why was doing that at home he won some money he could have gotten things together to start his own legal distillery, made artisan vodka. Hey, if the marketing is good enough and bottle is pretty enough the public will line up for it. That's how they sold grey goose.

But no instead he failed now he's some moron running around in singed boxers.

Wait... I can distill my own spirits in England? WHY WASN'T I INFORMED SOONER?! Packing my bags.

Also, this is why newbies should always stick to drip distillation. Leave pressurized distillation to the pros.
