Lemme guess. Jon Huntsman is the sanest voice in the list.

they should've included how most of them are against a vaccine to prevent cervical cancer in young women.

Romney: Do I think the world's getting hotter? Yeah, I don't know that, but I think that it is. I don't know if it's mostly caused by humans ... What I'm not willing to do is spend trillions of dollars on something I don't know the answer to.

To be fair, Rick Perry signed an executive order forcing young women to get the vaccine. Yay small government!

I'm surprised Ron Paul didn't call for the immediate cessation of our over-regulatory ozone layer and to put our magnetosphere on the gold standard.

2011-09-08 04:22:02 PM
Ron Paul: I think there is a theory, a theory of evolution, and I don't accept it. ... The creator that I know created us, each and every one of us and created the universe, and the precise time and manner. ... I just don't think we're at the point where anybody has absolute proof on either side. - Remarks made at a state Republican Party meeting in Spartanburg, S.C., Nov. 1, 2007

The next time I hear some dumb ass get all RON PAUL RON PAUL I'm going to remind them that asshole doesn't believe in science.

He also has a well-tempered gut fear of black people.

Never have a group of people reveled more in their own stupidity and ignorance, fark Romney knew he sounded too sane and had to back off.

2011-09-08 04:25:31 PM
I'm actually okay with Gingrich on evolution. Seemed at least mostly rational.

Shostie: I'm actually okay with Gingrich on evolution. Seemed at least mostly rational.

I thought Romney stated it the best.

I'm not exactly sure what is meant by intelligent design. But I believe God is intelligent, and I believe he designed the creation. And I believe he used the process of evolution to create the human body. ... True science and true religion are on exactly the same page. They may come from different angles, but they reach the same conclusion. I've never found a conflict between the science of evolution and the belief that God created the universe. He uses scientific tools to do his work.

2011-09-08 04:29:19 PM
Rick Perry: "I hear your mom was asking about evolution."

Yeah, you get 'em, Rick.

The lesson here? Jon Huntsman is the only reasonable, across-the-board level-headed person running for the GOP Presidential nomination. Period. He's the only one who doesn't think his politics allow him the freedom to manufacture his own facts. And of course...He typically polls last.

The BOOMING anti-intellectualism movement in this country ought to scare the $#!+ out of EVERYBODY.

look, no-one's denying that the world's climate is getting crazy. all's i'm saying is that it tracks pretty well with our acceptance of homosexuals and racial and religious minorities in our society. i think the answer is fairly clear here.

i just did a "google correlate" drawn series and it looks like the world termperature roughly correlates with google searches for "nevada state bank." we should probably start coordinating attacks.

Not surprised that Huntsman is the only sensible one in the whole lot. Which automatically disqualifies him from winning the Republican nomination.

The GOP needs to split into two parties: the Christian conservative teabagger party on one hand, and Rockefeller Republicans on the other.

You mean that Ron Paul *isn't* the guy who yelled "SHE BLINDED ME WITH SCIENCE" for Thomas Dolby?

2011-09-08 05:44:04 PM
I love how "science" is referred to as a singular thing, as if it could be easily defined and all of its components are of equal value.

I wonder what the Democrats had to say.

Well, put a bag over your head, idiot, and see how harmless CO2 is.

You smarty-art big-britches people with your book learnin' and your high-fallutin' collegiate degrees! Sleep well knowin' I'm gonna cancel out your vote come November!

The saddest moment in the debate last night was when Huntsman I believe said they can't run from science and the crowd went silent. This was just a few minutes before Perry gloating about killing 200 something people, innocent or not, and the crowd going nuts.

The people who want to polish Ron Paul's knob should refer to this article. He's dangerously stupid when it comes to science, and therefore an unfit candidate.

Not to be all crazy, but Romney's answer was effectively fine. He trotted out the standard "God made man, and evolution was the tool he used" argument you get from the less derpy christians. And he agreed with the theory of anthropogenic global climate change...He just didn't support actually spending money.

2011-09-08 05:52:10 PM
Not bad, Jon Huntsman, not bad.

Runner up would be Mitt Romney except that in some ways, "I believe it, I don't know why I believe it, I wouldn't attempt to do anything about it even though I believe it," is kinda even dumber than just claiming you don't believe it. Or it would be except that people like bachmann and santorum manage to plumb such amazing depths in their drive to say stupid things....

Democrats want Huntsman, a liberal, to win the nomination because they know that most conservatives will not vote for him, and if they do, Huntsman is still a liberal.

Sadly, Liberalism was started in the Republican Party by Teddy Roosevelt.

Republicans have a systematic aversion to science. Sure you can pick a token stpuid person from any side of the political spectrum, but the weight of the stupidity lies to the right.

My favorite part of the debate was Ron Paul's statement:

"If you take away the [troops' in Iraq/Afghanistan] air conditioning, I think you'll see them come home."

Now THAT's science! They only stay there because it's nice and comfy!

Even sadder than these comments is when Democrats qualify their actual beliefs to appease the uneducated electorate.

We just need to remind them that science can be used to kill people. Then they'll love it.

I think Ron Paul would enforce the teaching of evolution (or Intelligent Design, or anything else) if the Constitution said to.

Hmm...what religion are romney and huntsman again?

Jon Huntsman has a hot wife who would be quite pleasing as first lady.

With all the derp spouted off by various candidates, that's pretty much all you need to analyze before casting any votes. The fact that Huntsman has rational and reasonable answers to the questions in the article is just a bonus.
