(Showbiz Spy)   Because clearly clothing is the real problem with the Superman remake, producers say they may give Henry Cavill a different costume. Why not just scrap the whole thing?   (showbizspy.com) divider line 70

Based on the pic in the article, Supe's new costume will consist of a tan leather jacket and a grey cotton shirt.

Even though this article is silly and I could care less about Superman, I think listening to criticisms from geeks on the net is a good thing.

I think that's actually close to what his new costume is after the DCU reboot.

I find it funny that the criticism is once again about his crotch. Not the fish scales, or the weird designs on the hips or the Batman like edges on his wrists. Nope, the package. I'm guessing a few religious types were watching the dailies, got a jostle in their undies and started screaming "I AM NOT GAY!!" Then tore their shirts, punched the nearest skinny dude while trying to mount the nearest female on the projector while chomping into a pound of raw meat.

I don't have a problem with his package. The costume just looks stupid and unbalanced
without the red underoos.

I honestly do not have a problem with this costume. So long as it's got the iconic S symbol and it's red and blue, I'm ok with it.

The pic kind of looks like it might be of him in Krypton or Kryptonian garb but if it's not I still think it's cool

Right. They got rid of the panties for the new comic costume too, but they gave him a red belt to make up for it. For some reason they failed to do that with the new suit, so it looks like he's going surfing in a cape.

I don't have a problem with the lack of red under-over pants, or the texture of the costume, it's the grey piping stuff that makes it look weird.

I don't like his costume either. I was just pointing out that instead of focusing on all the other stupid crap of the costume, they're once again getting complaints about the crotch like they did with Superman Returns.

Supposedly they auditioned him in a standard Christopher Reeve-type costume, so how about they just use that? Nobody is going to say a Superman costume looks wrong IF IT LOOKS LIKE A SUPERMAN COSTUME.

It's really only the bright, bright yellow belt that blows it for me. Maybe the fabric shouldn't be so thin and mute the bright colours, but I don't think it looks that bad.

Just for great Rao's sake, don't have him throw his insignia at anybody this time!

It looked okay at the time. The outfit needs the red in the crotch area. I'm not saying necessarily trunks, but it needs to not have a giant blue package there. That new outfit looks over designed and underdressed.

Yeah, a guy told me a bunch of stuff that happens...not really about the plot (besides someone dying in a tornado). I remember something about a train blowing up or crashing as well...

Well there's no getting around him looking ridiculous, he's Superman. It's like when they tried to make Wonder Woman not look ridiculous in that TV show. It's Wonder Woman. There's no way to make her not look silly. Same with Superman.
