I just don't find him funny anymore. His discriptions of his sexual experiences (which seems to be most of his act) are a great appetite suppressant.

C'mon, I don't think George would appreciate anyone calling him a god, comedy or otherwise. Let's have some respect for his wishes.

How about a comedy Joe Pesci?

I can see the sun, okay? Unlike some other gods I could mention, I can actually see the sun. I'm big on that.

Was never, ever even remotely funny. The schlubby out-of-shape middle-aged man schtick I could see coming a week ahead of time.

I hear people say Louis C.K. is funny, but I have never seen any evidence of this.

Wow, even Louis C.K. isn't immune to the rapid onset of "not cool anymore" status on Fark.

The greatest comedian of all time is a guy who does stand up once in a great while in a country-western bar on the outskirts of Dallas, he never reveals his name, but you don't know dick about comedy if you haven't seen one of his shows. Maybe 500 people in the whole world have seen him.

2011-09-06 07:32:52 PM
Here's the speech he did to honor him. (new window) Notice at the end he stops because he's about to break down and cry.

let me add that "Louie" is by far the best sitcom ive seen in years, possibly ever

Meh, he was cool when only 300 people had heard of him.

500 now? What a sellout.

Yeah, that stuff is getting old. His bit on Letterman about introducing lions into modern society was gold, though.

Here we go - "I was at a Yankees game and a lion ate the Kansas City Royals." (new window)

I am already having a great day. I've been homeschooling my daughter for the past 3 years under a charter school, and today I just ordered a bunch of books and called the school and said Friday was our last day with them. I feel ENORMOUSLY confident about where we're going, and I feel like I should be wearing a cape of awesomeness.

I'm going to be going through the rest of the day knowing I won't be eaten by lions...even if they are on the streets ;) Man that was good stuff.

I had to see that scene with Dane Cook after reading about it on Grantland. That scene was genius. I started watching the series via torrent. It's been great so far.

I really like the show "Louis". But Louis CK's stand-up sucks. The bits on "Louis" are funny, but I've seen a few of his stand-up specials, and he just isn't funny. At least, not for more than a few minutes at a time.

"Louis" really is great, though. It's so dark and weird. It's almost not a comedy. Maybe that's why it works for him.

I can't watch it, I only saw one episode and I almost bought a ticket back to New York, it is so richly drenched in what it means to be living in New York.

Carlin was AWESOME.

Louis C.K. is an uncreative, unfunny hack. He's the fratboy comic-du-jour. He's the Dane Cook of the early 2010s. His "white people problems" routine is nothing more than a rehash of the "starving children in Africa" guilt trip your mother used on you.

Carlin was usually great, but in this case he f♥cked up. He should have let Louis C.K. quit.

She played his wife on his original show "Lucky Louie" on HBO. It was a much funnier show, since he didn't have to censor himself.

I hate them, too.

Actually, I haven't seen many good comedians lately. When Carlin died, a lot of the funny went out of the world.

But if you want a list:

Janeane Garofalo (in the 80s, Not now.)
Richard Pryor (always)
Eddie Murphy (again, in the 80s. Not now.)
Steve Martin (in the 70s. Not now.)
Gilbert Gottfried (in small doses)
Robin Williams (in the 80s. Not now.)
Flip Wilson (old school, but good)
Redd Foxx (old school, but awesome)
Mitch Hedberg
Andy Kaufman (in small doses)
Rodney Dangerfield
Eddie Izzard
Dave Chappelle (before he went nuts)
Chris Rock
Sam Kinison
Billy Connelly
Craig Ferguson
Jon Stewart
Bob Newhart
Penn & Teller (they count. Sort of.)

But no. Not Louis CK. I hate his act. I don't like him. I lump him in with guys like Tim Allen and Jay Leno.
