After that last movie, I think it's time to put the whole thing to bed.

X-Files is over. Fringe is here and every other episode doesn't end with men in black suits covering things up.

Cause X-Files 2 was so good right?

"Tweeted Speer, 'Just interviewed Gillian Anderson...she is super stunning in real life...'"

Why do so many interviewers sound like gushing fanboys/fangirls? Is there no dignity or intelligence left?

This is supposed to fit around the 2012 alien invasion Fight The Future and the series mapped out. If they don't get it in pre production and shooting fast, then I say it's a wash.

Didn't like "I want to believe", and I think the show ended as well as it could. Just let it go.

/Mrs. FinFang never saw the show, and had her Netflix it. She really loves it.

This. Fringe is what the x-files should have been.

You must be smoking what the dude in the picture is having.

So X-Files 2 sucked. It still wipes its ass with Fringe. I'm surprised that show is still on.

No, she didn't.
Bleedingcool.com had the interview, not a sound byte.

We're hoping to... that's something that we've said fromt the beginning, that we'd be interested in doing it if it ever came up again. I know that there are some discussions about it, I have no idea at what stage. There might a script, or how interested Fox is in doing it. We're all hoping that it's something that might take place. But they better hurry. 2012, which is the perfect subject matter is coming up quickly.

In other words, sure, I'd like another check, who wouldn't?

Gillian Anderson in XXX-Files. Hmmmmm.

Reluctantly admitting this.

However, without X-Files, we wouldn't have as much of an appreciation for Fringe.

I'm as much of an X-phile as the next girl, but is that really a good idea?

Bahahahhahaha, oh man, good stuff. Show me one episode of Fringe as X-Files "Memento Mori" or "The Field Where I Died".

Never saw fringe. Might have heard of it, but never checked it out. Do they deal with aliens, vampires and demonic possession too? Or is it just another CSI wannabe show like I initially thought? Please, get back to me on this. I need something new to watch with Breaking Bad season 4 ending soon.

Just watched "I Want to Believe" a couple weeks ago.

Man it was mediocre.

Fringe is heavy science fiction. They had one alien episode which was tribute to the X-Files. The show is based on the idea that "Anything is possible with science" So there are no vampires, zombies, or magic items like on SyFy.

On a scale between X-Files and CSI, Fringe is very close to X-Files.

The cases are plenty absurd. But not too absurd.

... same goes for the characters, now that I think about it.

I hope they do a film to cover the invasion angle. Last movie wasn't fantastic, but it was enjoyable.

/Still love The X-Files
//Never seen Fringe

As a die hard X-Files fan I was incredibly disappointed with the second movie. I remember being SO excited and hoping for the best,,,,then about half-way through thinking "WTF is this shiat?" It was so sad. It is the only thing X-Files related I only watched once and hope to never see again.

X-Files 3: The Lone Zombies

/Fringe is bad and you should feel bad

Fringe's first season was pretty weak. They kept referring to some over-arching construct called "The Pattern," and how everything they encountered somehow fit into it.

The second and third seasons saw it get much more interesting. They have ditched The Pattern and have let a few stray dogs of subplots die. The result is a much tighter and impactful show.

I was a big fan of X-Files, but after about 5 years it had clearly run its course. Stuck around too long and the movies were ass.

So, is it more like Millennium? More crime solving and end of the world stuff but not as much supernatural? Miss that show. Sucks that they pulled the plug before they got to the real finale.

The second X-Files movie was better than the first. The first movie should have been titled "X-Files: Return of the Status Quo"

I loved the X-Files at the beginning, but after a few seasons it became really clear that they had no idea where it was going, and planned on dragging things out, not answering any questions, and stringing everyone along for absolutely as long as they could get away with it. So, the only episodes with any real resolution were the "filler" episodes. The second movie was like a really good filler episode.

2011-09-06 01:33:45 PM
X-Files is currently in that area where it's lost most of its fan base, it's too old to be relevant, but not yet old enough for a nostalgic rebirth. Give it 10 more years, and you can probably push a winner through the studios.

2011-09-06 01:33:59 PM
X-Files 2 was 3 out of 4 stars for me.

Bleep you haters.

If you compare it that way, it's probably more CSI than Millenium :-)

It's more case-based, and more "official FBI investigation with quirky civilians".

Yeah, I don't get the outright hate for the second one either. I enjoyed it, and I thought the case was pretty creepy.

I just liked seeing the characters again. It was refreshingly low-key.

X-files should have been stupid? Sorry, but I disagree.

I liked X-Files 2

but then again, I was always a fan of the Monster Of The Week episodes.

I'll watch it and I'll enjoy it.

Replace supernatural with appears supernatural and is explained with SCIENCE! Crazy mad science from an honest to goodness mad scientist (spent the last 20 years in a mental institution, and removed pieces of his own brain to prevent him from remembering certain stuff)! Plus a war between dimensions, with a complete alternate dimension timeline of most of the main characters.

The Book of Revelation obsessed agent they introduced in Season 2 luckily went to live with Chuck Cunningham, but to me it always seemed like the Pattern wasn't really abandoned. It seemed more like the whole idea was for the Pattern plot to fade away after it was revealed that the Pattern was Walternate's preparations for the cross-universe war, like it was designed to be a short term mystery, the answer to which would set up future plot lines. They actually did a pretty good job of making many of the early standalone episodes pay off in later seasons (for example, the amber-like substance that was used in the bus attack in season 1 wound up being something Walternate created to plug cracks in his universe).

You convinced me. Downloading season one now. I'm reserved. Duchovney had a screen presence that I really dug, and nobody ever really got laid on that show, which I also love. Okay, there was that one episode in the last season that showed Mulder waking up at Scully's apartment. I just dislike shows where main characters are constantly trying to get it on. I have porn for that need.

I love the X-Files, the first 6 seasons anyway, and spent the summer re-watching the entire series, and I have no interest in another X-Files movie.

Any X-Files movie, regardless of how bad, will still be better than Fringe.

You probably won't like where they go with Peter and Olivia in season 3, but they do at least throw in some romantic hurdles that are fairly fresh.
