2011-09-05 11:39:37 AM
I'm glad that we're back to being outraged over rap lyrics, like we were in the early 1990s, since that means we really don't have any serious problems to worry about.

2011-09-05 11:56:27 AM
They're not "our" troops. They're the US Government's troops. And they'd gun down a crowd of Americans at the drop of a hat if given the order. God knows it's happened before.

Why would anyone dis the private army of the military-industrial-congressional complex? SOMEBODY has to protect the interests of corporate america!

If you think our troops protect your freedoms, you are so farking retarded you can't even understand what I'm typing.

It is. It's a guarantee of the Streisand effect.

At least SOMEBODY had to balls to say something negative about the military.

I would not worry about. I am sure once the members of the US military got to know you they would also tell you that they are not protecting your freedom either.

On the one hand, while I will not state my opinion, I will say that Soulja Boy has every right to speak his mind over what he perceives as unfair glorification of the military and can diss them if he wants to.

On the other hand, Soulja Boy is a farking dumbass.

I just called him up to ask him what he thought about the issue and he said, and I quote, "Holy shiat will you please stop calling me?"

hasty ambush: I would like to know how the cr@p that is rap got to be defined as music in the first place.

It started of musically. Even though rappers were just "talking" over beats, their rapping still had a melody. The shining examples are obviously the Sugar Hill Gang song and Blondie's "Rapture".

Then years later rappers started doing a monotone thing where the words came out of their mouth like a machine. And any rap that had any melody to the voice was considered corny.

Now we've stopped calling it all rap and we've broken it into different genres so that everybody can have their own style.

I had other options, too, but I actually felt the need to serve my country. Some of us just have a sense of duty and a real pair, unlike you. Or did you just cry your way out of basic training and are now bitter that you couldn't hack it?

Because HERP A DERP, PATRIOTISM.

Listen dude, the military doesn't have a mandate to "protect our freedoms". They pledge to defend against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

That mandate has been hijacked. I have many friends in uniform but they're officers. They realize that what they're doing has no benefit to the citizens of America.

You're never going to awaken from your GWB "with us or with the terrorists" coma. I'd prefer you just up and died you traitorous whore.

Who gives a fark? Are people that got damn touchy? I don't listen to this person's music, since the rap I listen to is mainly old school stuff from the 80s/early 90s and the Beastie Boys.....but if you don't like it, don't listen to it. Seems simple enough to me. Not really anything to get sand in your vagina over.

Ugh. This clown puts rap to shame.

Better alternative: Lupe Fiasco, Talib Kweli

After his ringtone classic with the stupid dance faded off, Solja Boy is trying to stay relevant but his music isn't helping him. His record sales are dismal. I'm guessing this is his attempt at being a conscious rapper?

Talib's probably still best known for Get By. Lupe Fiasco recently finally entered the mainstream. Show Goes On and the politically charged Words I Never Said

"When an armed force authorized by the government goes on a college campus and fires 100 rounds of live ammunition, there are exactly two acceptable results:

(1) there should be 100 bullet holes in rioting students, or

(2) there should be 100 bullet holes in trees.

Any other result suggests the soldiers simply couldn't be bothered to notice where their guns were pointing when they pulled the triggers." -- Donald Hamilton

Troops overseas are protecting the government. The government isn't protecting you very well, however. That bill being proposed in Congress about having internet providers keep personal information on their customers, to protect from "child porn"? Riiiiight. I have friends in the military, so I support THEM as people, but I am fully aware most people who sign up for the military aren't competent enough to do much else.

/Truth is, you'll get over it won't you sheeple?

Maybe... we're a long way from Kent State though. Study the history of the Russian Revolution. Troops who would kill for the Tsar in 1908 were defecting to Lenin and Trotsky in 1917.

Keep telling yourself that but the truth is that you are part of the welfare system, and thirty years from now you will STILL be part of the welfare system ... You will still be costing U.S. taxpayers enormous amounts of money in 2041 ... all the while complaining that you haven't gotten your due ... the U.S. military is the biggest welfare system in the history of the world, and for what?

If there was a hint of tongue-in-cheek or intelligence behind Soulja I wouldn't mind this, but it seems more an ignorant person parroting an ignorant opinion than a thought out commentary on the military complex. I suppose the style isn't known for tact or subtly though.

It does need to be said. If you can't get a job better than GOVERNMENT work then you are a failure. These troops need to pull themselves up by the bootstraps and get a job in the private sector like me. Oh, but God forbid you tell the TRUTH about these lazy government workers. Pssh.
