"By this point I was at the end of my tether, and steam was coming out of my ears," she said."

It's a farking phone. Get over it. I'd like to see this woman attempt to replace a lost vehicle title on the last day of the month at the California DMV. Her farking head would explode.

It must be a slow news day in North Scotland. IMHO, this sort of crap happens all the time - and there aren't any newspaper stores about it, for chrissakes.

Wow. What a story. This part was especially gripping:

But this contained only a handset and a base, with no plugs or batteries.

This was the twist:

After numerous phone calls, Mrs Simpson eventually received another phone package from the company on September 9.

And, finally, the heart-wrenching tragedy:

"By this point I was at the end of my tether, and steam was coming out of my ears," she said.

This should cause possibly the least amount of emotional stress allowable by law. Stop yo biatchin'.

2003-09-17 02:09:05 PM
meh, cry me a river. biatchy lady gets pissed because some delivery guy tried to help her out by hacing it not returned to sender, accidents happen. Don't get pissy at philips about it, especially after they send you a replacement. She still had the old phone's accessories, put em in the new phone. meh.

I've had UPS drivers (also known as "farking retarded monkeys") leave packages outside my door, after letting a stranger sign for them, where they sat for two weeks, because I'd moved out. And yes, I'd called and had them rerouted; someone somewhere along the way forgot to tell the retarded monkey UPS driver, though. I had to get the apartment superintendent to send it to me (via USPS).

I think this story proves that delivery people are stupid no matter where you go.

And in other news: My neighbor's dog took a crap in the yard. Oh, yeah, that's not interesting either.

I can't believe this made it to the main page. LAME...

A wheelie-bin is one of those large rolling (usually 65-90 gallon) trash cans.

Quit yer complainin' woman.

B*tch make me a haggis.

I fail to see how this was Philips responsibility. They shipped the product to her and fulfilled their obligation. The parcel delivery service is the one who should have replaced her phone since they're the ones who put it in the trash to begin with.

"on holiday?"

"wheelie bin?"

"neighbour?"

Speak English!

How do news agencies find out about crap like this? True, lots of people out there watch to see if jlo takes a crap in the woods (sad as that may be), but who in the hell is watching and found it necessary to alert the media about mrs. simpson's neighbor troubles? My neighbors left a pair of shoes in the hallway for a month now, I hear ted koppels on his way...

Steam? She should get that checked out, as she might be running a fever.

Why did they not put it in the postal bin?

This officially qualifies as the most asinine, useless, dullest post of the year.

In other news, I deposited my dead fish in the toilet and flushed it.

wheelie bin? is that anything like a dustbin?

These UK types are just precious.

"She returned to John Lewis, where an assistant tried to get in touch with Philips, but to no avail. John Lewis then found the remaining parts among its stock and sent them to Mrs Simpson's home in a taxi. . .She added that John Lewis had been very helpful and had pulled out all the stops by delivering the extra phone equipment and trying to contact Philips."

Nice plug for the John Lewis company anyway.

cokemonkey

The town I grew up in only had a weekly newspaper. To even fill that with news that had a section that printed about who had visitors from out of town, or who went in to "The City" for dinner.

09-13-2003: Hank and Mary Cracka's daughter Eliza visited them over the weekend. She is enrolled at KU in communications.

09-14-2003: Jack and Pat McKrotch went to Manhattan and had dinner at the Applebee's Neighborhood Grill. Jack had the steak and Pat had the chicken salad.

In many parts of Scotland, mail-ordering consumer electonics is the emotional pinnacle of life. As such, this woman's existance is now a total shambles. The company who sent her the package is obvously responsible for her pain and suffering from the lack of a cordless telephone.

I totally sympathize. Further, I understand why this is a Fark-worthy article

Or maybe not.

When I washed my windows at the gas station, I still had dirt marks left on it. "By this point I was at the end of my tether, and steam was coming out of my ears" Jimmycheese said.

Obviously not much happening in North Scotland. Must be tough to be a news reporter.

2003-09-17 05:55:13 PM
I awoke this morning in my flat, had my usual tea and crumpets, went down the lift and got im my lorry. As I departed I backed over my neighbours wheelie bin. I quickly did a rather dodgy job of botching it together with sticky tape.

Did the courier get $2 million for this?
