Anyone who thinks the Republican presidential nominee is going to be anyone other than Mitt Romney is fooling themselves. Yes, Romney did implement some Democratic-ish policies in his state that will alienate him from some far right voters. True. But his campaign will push the message that he is a successful entrepreneur and a business man. They'll also try to capture the attention of Tea Partiers by pointing out that he's not a career politician and has only held elected office for 4 years!

Perry on the other hand is a career politician of 27 years! And he used to be an actual Democrat! He's also made several uncouth statements that make him seem very unpresidential. On top of that, several big players/names in the GOP, ie Karl Rove, George W. Bush, hold a huge grudge against him. The books Perry wrote when he was left leaning earlier in his career will come back to bite him in the ass. Excerpts from his book are much easier to use against him than, "herr, Romneycare is a lot like Obamacare". Romney can always point out the important difference with Romneycare in that it is in the same vein as "States Rights".

The current Michele Bachmann is the Hillary Clinton of 2008.

I'm still holding out for Jon Huntsman or Ron Paul getting at least Vice President.
