howdy neighbor! (euless resident here)

i've never been to pk lake, heard it was nice before april when much of it burned...this is the 2nd major fire there! and as of 530 this morning it was still ZERO PERCENT CONTAINED, because the only firefighting equipment they can get near it are helicopters with big water scoops. flames shooting 50 to 100 ft in the air, mixed with 10% humidity, super thick smoke, and high temp of 106 prevented firefighters on the ground from getting close

yeah, that 1 minute of rain on my car during my 20 minute commute the other day left my car dirtier than before

it's been so terribly hot that we've hardly even used our apartment complex's swimming pools in well over 2 months

driving on i20 you may see smoke in the distance...? as of now all the wind is coming from the south, so all the smoke will be heading to oklahoma, not to the area you'll be driving thru

It seemed that all of the rain was going around us. So I said, on FB that it appears that God said "no".
The next day it rained, and it rained for 3 days and flooded everything.

Two years ago, I said that if God wanted me to have green grass, he'd water it himself. It rained a lot that summer.

I enjoy tempting fate.

Well, that's actually a good thing, didn't know if we'd see light from the fires but it looks like it's ~40 mi south of PKL, so not likely.

probably. most of what we consider really pretty sunsets are caused by the pollution in the air, including dust & smoke

Ft. Worth here. I'm glad y'all saw that sunset too...I was driving west on one of the higher streets around Hulen / Bellaire, stopped and caught a couple of pics of it. I'll try and transfer them soon and post them in my profile. Rubber Ball indeed. Really cool sunset- - even for a native Texan used to them.

What's with all the cold-weather wusses on here?

Maybe I've got Viking ancestry or something, but I find it generally easier to deal with "really cold" than "really hot". If it gets too cold, I can put on more clothing. If it gets too hot, there's only so much clothing I can remove before I get arrested.

/And in Texas, I'd still be complaining about the head while sitting naked in the back of the police car. Maine sounds pretty good right about now.
//(Don't panic, this is only for illustration, I have no intention of actually threatening people with the sight of my unclothed body...)

i don't deal very well with "really cold" or "really hot". up to about 90 i'm fine...95 is really pushing it...this summer here in dfw with 65 days of 100+ has been BAD! but my part time 2nd job is outdoors and this last winter was way too cold! maybe a bit easier to deal with than the heat since i could put on 3 pairs of pants and 3 shirts and 2 pairs of socks, and i didn't stink from sweat, but still not pleasant, and that was still above zero degrees!

My exact quote: I'd rather be cold than hot. I can always put on another sweater but I can only get SO naked.

Complaining about the head while sitting naked?! Really? Somehow I doubt that very much. HeaT maybe..........
