FTFA: The Marathon County Central Labor Council sponsors the Sept. 5 parade.

Then I guess they can invite or not invite whoever they want. Besides, the kid you spit on and bully on the playground isn't going to invite you to his birthday party and you don't have the right to whine about it when he doesn't.

The Marathon County Central Labor Council sponsors the Sept. 5 parade. The council includes about 30 local unions from the Marathon County area.

Council president Randy Radtke says they choose not to invite elected officials who have "openly attacked worker's rights" or did nothing when state public workers lost most of their right to collectively bargain.

"What did you expect, a parade?"

im guessing the stupid tag is for the Republicans that would want to show up to an event filled with people who want nothing more then to beat them to a bloody pulp

FTFY subby. Amazing how omitting words can twist things.

Well as Governor--I would say---no police for you..no permit--..

It's a Labor Day parade. Republicans don't support labor. No parade for you!

It's Warsore...erb.

Parades are useless unless they throw candy from the floats. And if they do, I'm sure no one wants Labor Day quality candy.

2011-08-28 04:22:13 PM
Don't start crying when you run out of comic relief, Wausau.

Retards FTW!

Can you guess what the grounds of the subsequent lawsuit would be?

\3 guesses, first 2 don't count.

Typical SEIU thuggery - the Republicans simply want to show their support for workers' FREE right to work for whoever will pay them the most, and bargain themselves for what they are worth, in a pure free market untainted by distorting forces of left-wing politics.

derp derp

Seriously WTF? Labor Day represents pretty much everything the Republican party has been openly against for decades, but especially the last couple of years where it's been open season on workers' rights. What could they possibly have to say to a Labor Day crowd? What could they hope to offer that would not be instantly denounced as bald-faced hypocrisy?

Speaking as an anti-government union conservative who voted for the pot-smoking homeless guy (new window) in my recent recall election, I wholeheartedly support the right and actions of this union barring anti-union politicians from their parade.

Keep your beliefs strong and your resolve stronger. That's why I respect certain politicians.

I guess there won't be any taxpayer provided services for the parade then.

You must be the submitter. Why do you hate unions and America and the working man?

Personally, I think the parade organzers deserve the HERO tag.

Must be a conservative mod today, given the last two fascist politics headlines making the main page...

Good. I wish more groups, events, etc... did this.

Those evil cocksuckers want to ruin everyone's lives then show up and f*cking gladhand while spewing more of their lies and filth.

F*ck them.

Oh please. People don't go to parades to have politicians or lobbyists or buttsore workers group thugs preach anything to them. They're there to get out of the house, see the floats with their kids and maybe let their kids have some candy, end of story. Most of them could give a shiat about the reason for the parade other than it's usually a paid day off work.

At least have the courage of your convictions, Republicans. If you're going to be anti-union and anti-worker, then OWN that sh*t and don't be shocked when a farking union says "no thanks".

2011-08-28 04:35:53 PM
Hero or Spiffy tag on strike?
Why should Republicans be allowed there? They're anti-labor and anti-working class. If you're not rich, you don't matter to them.
Would you expect neo-nazis to be invited to the Million Man March? Would you invite an Al Qaeda member to an American soldier's funeral?

As long as they insist of being enemies of the people, the people should return the favor.

2011-08-28 04:37:22 PM
Damn straight and good on them!

Why the hell would they invite those who are OPENLY COMMITTED to violating their constitutional rights and returning them to serfdom for the profit of a few people who think that wealth should equal total control of the government, the country, and everything in it?

2011-08-28 04:37:37 PM
They want differences to be put aside for this family-friendly event?
Not bloody likely.
You know what else is family-friendly? Not destroying unions, so parents can provide a decent upbringing for their kids.

A Day Older than Yesterday: I guess there won't be any taxpayer provided services for the parade then.

Personally, I really don't know. TFA says that they pay for it, though. I assume that means security, cleanup, etc. Besides, why would those lawmakers want to participate anyway? They viciously fought these guys. Why on Earth would they want to go to a parade that's purpose is to celebrate them? It should be a big "meh" to them.

2011-08-28 04:40:14 PM
Republicans want to destroy unions rights and raise taxes on the working class. Why would they want to come to a worker's rights parade in the first place?

So they can try to sleaze out a few extra votes. They are shameless.

HI wonder what Subby, thinks of Paul Ryan not speaking with constituents unless they pay $15 (new window).

Doesn't sound like the Republicans can't show up and watch, they just can't be part of the show paid for by the labor organizations they are attempting to shut down. I wonder how Subby would feel if a pro-life church didn't invite an abortion supporting politician to speak at the pulpit.

When i go to the pride parade i go because i care about the issue (and i like seeing hot guys walking around in thongs), if its the 4th of july parade i expect to see lots of vets, st patrick's day if i dont get green beer im going to be pissed, for a labor day parade i expect to see the local unions and the law makers that support them. Going to a parade just to get the kids candy is like going to a wedding just to get cake.

2011-08-28 04:42:34 PM
As a guy living in Wausau and I knew this was coming. Lots of people work in factory and teaching jobs got screwed over by the anti union laws. The only people in town that believe unions aren't needed are the some of the most severely disconnected from reality.

2011-08-28 04:43:07 PM
They did it wrong. They should have welcomed the Republicans with open arms then just booed the shiat out of them right in the middle of the parade.

2011-08-28 04:43:21 PM
Well, Labor Day is for the American worker, and modern Republicans are enemies of American workers. Give them a few more years and they'll rename it "Get the Fark Back to Work oh Wait we Just Shipped your Job to Central America Where a Twelve Year Old Will do it for Fifteen Cents an Hour Get a Damn Job you Parasitic Layabout Day."

Duffy's chief of staff, Brandon Moody, tells WAOW-TV the congressman was hoping differences could be set aside for the family-friendly event.

I wish politics could be set aside for our fact-friendly reality.

This. There should be absolutely zero outrage. WTF would they do there anyhow? Stand on a float, waving to the crowd, shouting "I farking hate you. I hate you all. I'll get you yet. You and your little dog, too."

2011-08-28 04:44:27 PM
Sounds reasonable to me. Same reason I wouldn't invite Westburo Baptist to my gay pride parade, or the KKK to an MLK birthday event.

I suppose they could compromised and invited a few. Just stick them all on one float and hand out old eggs and rotten vegetable to the crowd.
