WTF is the president doing golfing at this time?

'Golf' is as much a passtime as it is a way to informally meet with advisers and politicians, among other people or leaders. You'd be surprised how much business and politics are done on a golf course.

So they don't really work. They just play golf and talk.

Don't show class envy. That leads to class warfare.

Envy? I farking hate golf.

I am 34. I have lived in Virginia for all but 6 months of my life. I have always wanted to experience an earthquake (a "safe" one).

I thought it was really cool. I just can't understand all the turboderp about this event. I'd always read a 5-6 was yawner for Californians.

You know what? It was just "really cool" for a Virginia who never, ever felt an earthquake before. Scary? No. Just cool as hell. To me anyway.

I wished it had lasted longer because by the time I realized what it was, it was just about done.

Certainly, here's a direct lift:

Where is the president when a 5.9 earthquake hits from VA to NY, oh wait, he is golfing.... Where is the leader of the USA while we are in a rescission, oh wait, he is drinking wine at one of the most expensive resorts of our country. What a douche!
4 people like this.
Comments:
1) double like lol
2) Oh, come on now! Everyone deserves a vaca with thier family! He can't control earthquakes, precious!
3) you dont deserve one when you "run" a country.. and you definitely dont deserve one when you run a country into the ground lol..
4) Who are you? lol. And to take a vacation at Marthar's Vineyard, one of the most elite resorts in the country and our Nation is in recession and in debt up to our ears, not to mention that our troupes are fighting their asses of in the hot desserts of Afghanistan, and all of his "Great Ideas," on trying to change this country is failing us more than helping.... yeah he REALLY deserves a vacation! lol

elchip: jennyz: Where did the "Fartbongo" thing come from?

Some totally not-racist conservatives have called him Obongo.

To make light of all the ridiculous nicknames conservatives have bestowed upon the President, someone coined "Fartbama."

Then, someone put them together.

It was amusing to watch the terms come into existence. Oddly enough when "fartbama" and later "fartbongo" came onto the scene the right-wing penchant for making up stupid and/or racist names seemed to enter a decline.

0bama and similar nonsense is back now, of course, but there was a down cycle.

Don't worry, there will be more. In the fracking business we don't call them earthquakes though. We like to think of them as earth hugs. It's the earth thanking you for relieving it of gas. It feels good.

Things are heating up over at the State Department....

Q: Isn't it a fact, Secretary Clinton, that the Aug. 6 Presidential Daily Brief (P.D.B.) warned against possible damage in this country? And I ask you whether you recall the title of that P.D.B.

A: I believe the title was Earthquake Determined To Attack Inside the United States.

Anonymous Bosch: I didn't realize Roger Simon worked for Politico now. When even the Baltimore Sun- which is crooked, useless, and in the pocket of the local government -won't let you work for them anymore, you have seriously fallen.

And here's the way to tell if you're right about what God made the earthquake for: go beat your head against a rock as hard as you can. If you're still absolutely certain after 25 times, you've probably got it right. But try another 25 times just to be certain.

Your estimate was low. And I have a headache. You sure it wasn't made by moving chunks of planet grinding or changing height? Possibly due to pressure and maybe additional settlement long after two giant chunks of planet smashed the shiat out of each other?

Dunno what God had to do with it though. Should I keep hitting myself with the rock? Following instructions on Fark is hard. Also, does counting count as math? If so then I was told there would be no math.

The article itself was funny enough in a groaner kind of way.

What's funnier is watching the conservatives line up to chant "BLAMEBUSHBLAMEBUSHBLAMEBUSHBLAMEBUSH", leveling an imaginary charge that never happened to deflect from a very real level of stupidity that did (from their camp, naturally).

It takes a special level of pathetic to watch some members of your team get caught with their pants down saying something absurdly stupid and attempt to turn that around and blame Obama for it in the same way.

2011-08-23 05:43:12 PM
Just being reported on MSNBC:

USGS officials warned Bush administration in 2003 about the possibility of catastrophic earthquake in the DC area. They recommended substantial investment in retrofitting important buildings to withstand earthquakes. Bush did not.
