I wonder if this idiot actually thinks the taxpayers are paying for the Obamas' meals, etc. Except for the Secret Service detail, the Obamas are paying for the home they're renting, the food they eat, etc.

Just as Bush did, just as Clinton did, just as Bush's daddy did, etc.

This is Republican poutrage at its finest, methinks.

2011-08-20 12:13:13 PM
Oh, please....

That's actually a pretty small bill for a night out at a fancy restaurant. Hell, Rush Limbaugh probably spends more on his weekly visits to Ruth's Chris (the porterhouse there runs, what, $60 with no sides, appetizers, or drinks, just the steak) -- where's this guy's outrage over _that_? Oh, that's right, somehow Rush _earns_ his salary by sitting his ass in front of a microphone and yammering bullshiat, while the President of the United States, acting as executive officer for one of the largest and most influential countries in the world, does not.....

$200 for a family of four is pretty average for a meal at a nice place.

They might, for example, choose to start the meal with a $15 chunk of pizza cheese - I'm sorry, "Fresh Mozzarella" with "Fresh Basil, vine ripened tomatoes, aged balsamic reduction, and chive dill."

and then they had a $40 bottle of grape juice, i'm sorry, "pinot noir" followed by bowls of ketchup, i mean "tomato bisque". could they be any more uppity? amirite?

Probably to the nearest buffet restaurant.

What's his problem? It seems to me like he has joined the liberal hate parade against the rich. As we all know, the Obama's are rich, and the rich can afford to eat fancy food like mozzarella and lobster because they've worked hard to get rich and should be allowed to spend it how they see fit. You know how many jobs that restaurant created by having such an expensive menu? While this guy is sitting at his house eating Perdue chicken, the rich of Martha's Vineyard are employing dozens of people just in this one restaurant alone. By going out to diner, the obama's and rest of the job creators in this country are keeping this country going. This guy is starting to sound like a dirty commie Keynesian.

You are correct to call the comments "pearls."

Technically speaking, a pearl is a piece of irritating rubbish, coated in the diseased secretions of a dying invertebrate.

Um, thats called a "Caprese salad". You would have to be an extremely uncultured person to not know what that is, or call it "pizza cheese".

There's also the steamed twin Menemsha lobsters for $48. Isn't Menemsha some kind of club for geniuses? I'll take those.

But to be sure that they're twins, I'll need a BIRTH CERTIFICATE.

ruth's chris is massively overrated and massively expensive. it exists for fat, rich republicans to show off to each other how much money they can waste in an evening and still eat meat and farking potatoes. if they ever set foot in alinea or el bulli, they'd shiat themselves. hell, if they had the $20 steak frites at my local frog bistro, they'd shiat themselves.

overpriced food for people with more money than sense.

$93 each, or $186 for the couple.

President Obama's salary is $400,000 per year. I'm sure he can afford to take his wife out to dinner at a nice restaurant once a year.

$200 dinner for two is exhorbitant, if your idea of a fancy dinner is PF Changs.

You really have to wonder if people like our author friend had a vegetable garden at one point, then ripped it out of the ground because they realized it's "All fresh organic produce"

Or refuse to do any cooking at all, and instead buy hundreds of Hungry Man dinners.

Also... this part:

The average weekly Social Security check for a retired worker is about $274. Just saying.

Sounds like he is advocating class warfare, and redistribution of wealth in the form of a welfare state.

President Obama was well off before he became President.

From Wikipedia: In December 2007, Money magazine estimated the Obama family's net worth at $1.3 million. Their 2009 tax return showed a household income of $5.5 million-up from about $4.2 million in 2007 and $1.6 million in 2005-mostly from sales of his books.

RIght. Like this dude's wife is 135 pounds. Snacky cakes, processed cheese, and tv dinners aren't known for their weight loss qualities.
