while i support any singer who speaks out against the RIAA, I hate this guy. He is the biggest pompous zackass out there. If you ever want a good evening of comedy, check him out in concert, where he will babble ridiculously between every song.

2003-09-12 06:32:57 PM
who?

2003-09-12 06:33:30 PM
Too bad they suck.

2003-09-12 06:34:18 PM
Oh, you mean that 40 year old singer whose songs all sound the same?

2003-09-12 06:34:40 PM
I'm Disturbed that I don't know who he is.

The Lead Jack@$$ for Creed is like that too.
I went to see them once right after their first CD, when the concerts were still free, and he wouldn't STFU!

Buddy, I don't want to hear your life story, just sing already. Let your song be your expression.

2003-09-12 06:36:01 PM
wowee! disturbed bashes RIAA! how is this spiffy in any way? the band sucks so much.

2003-09-12 06:36:17 PM
I think we have by a vast majority established that the RIAA sucks shiat. They and their record company leadership should all be thrown in federal prison for racketeering, collusion and price-fixing. They've already been convicted of theses things in court.

Throw the Bastards in Ass-Pounding Prison!

2003-09-12 06:37:10 PM
I agree with everything said up to Joshg's posts.

2003-09-12 06:38:11 PM
The only reason he bashed the RIAA is because no one downloads their music anyways and he doesn't lose any money.

2003-09-12 06:39:05 PM
disturbed is teh cool!!!! rok on!!!!111

2003-09-12 06:39:44 PM
Disturbed will appear in a documentary called Get Thrashed, due out before the end of the year, which will examine the thrash metal scene of the '80s and its impact on today's heavy rock bands.

And how its impact has led to such deep offerings as Disturbed and the nine-person talent vacuum known as Slipknot.

2003-09-12 06:39:51 PM
Horrible band, but credit must be given for bashing the RIAA

2003-09-12 06:40:18 PM
Sure they suck, but it's still a good thing that the artists are revolting on the RIAA too.

2003-09-12 06:41:35 PM
I feel like downloadin!!!

2003-09-12 06:41:47 PM
I'll state this now, just in case a lead singer from any other band like this crawls out of the woodwork to say something 'meaningful':

I'll care more when your music sucks less.

/thanks, but no thanks

2003-09-12 06:41:54 PM
well, I happen to enjoy listening to Disturbed, not the greatest band in the world, but still, I don't care who the band is, it's always amusing when they speak out against the RIAA headhunters. love them or hate them, they're almost a mainstream band which makes it spiffy(saying that word makes me feel like I should be watching trading spaces...) better it be a major label band than random indy rockers no one has heard of.

andbody remember the Offspring getting sued by napster for selling napster merchandise without permission, funny stuff. I can't remember how that turned out though...

2003-09-12 06:43:27 PM
needs 'dumbass' tag. Fark RIAA, fark Disturbed.

2003-09-12 06:44:15 PM

I've only heard a single song by this guy.. and I liked it. I'd prolly hate all the others, but as music is opinion..

This is cool shiat.

2003-09-12 06:48:01 PM
I heard a rumor somewhere that the RIAA is in the works to release their own P2P file sharing software... a subscription service of course. They are just trying to work out the digital rights management so that they can delete the files off your hard drive if you cancel your subscription.

2003-09-12 06:48:41 PM
This should have gotten the hero tag instead of spiffy.

And all you people bagging on Disturbed probably think Brit Spears and N'Sync are the greatest bands ever.

Farking Tools.

2003-09-12 06:48:45 PM
All artists who aren't stupid hate the RIAA. File trading is the best form of promotion ever created, and you don't have to cough up any payola to get it. The RIAA affiliated labels have always treated artists like endentured servants, and always claimed that they, not the fans, make artists stars. Read more at www.dontbuycds.org

2003-09-12 06:48:46 PM
Someone else in the industry need to speak out besides someone whose most brilliant song lyric is "OOOOOH WAA-AAAH-AAAH-AAAH!!!".

2003-09-12 06:49:45 PM
johnny cash = teh suck
distrubed < johnny cash

2003-09-12 06:51:42 PM
How are artist going to survive if everyone is freely copying and distributing their music amonst each other?

The Greatful Dead is a perfect example. Where are they now?

/sarcasm

I bought Disturbed's second album off the iTunes Music Store, worth every cent. His solo song on the "Queen of the Damned" soundtrack is pretty good, too. Granted, he's got too much metal sticking through his head, but I don't have to look at him to enjoy his music.

2003-09-12 06:52:39 PM
Hmmmm...

Actually, I've been hearing rumours about the RIAA paying
crappy, little-known, no-talent bands to protest the RIAA
in order the denigrate the movement. They're hoping to
make it "kewl" to like the RIAA via reverse-psychology.

Look for a strong anti-RIAA stance from such washout bands
as Hole, Linkin Park, Creed, Britney Spears, and Christian
'punk' band MXPX, all of whom have been secretly financed
by the RIAA to hold a "Werebuncha Loozahz" concert next
year in New Haven, CT.

Rawk on.....

;-)

Everyone seems to hate this particular messenger (i.e. the guy from Disturbed) but I must say I like his message. He's not the only artist speaking out on the subject. These are from an article on SFGate I tried to submit yesterday:

"They're protecting an archaic industry," said the Grateful Dead's Bob Weir.

"Lawsuits on 12-year-old kids for downloading music, duping a mother into paying a $2,000 settlement for her kid?" said rapper Chuck D of Public Enemy. "Those scare tactics are pure Gestapo."

"Record companies suing 12-year-old girls for file sharing is kind of like horse-and-buggy operators suing Henry Ford." said DJ Moby on his website.

"Who doesn't want to get paid for their work?" said Wayne Coyne of the indie-rock band Flaming Lips. "But I think it works to musicians' benefit for people to be able to occasionally listen to their music and, if they really like it, go out and buy it."

You may love/hate some of these guys, but they all seem to be saying the same thing - the RIAA is full of it. I'm just waiting for some big artists to break free from this archaic cartel.

Hey, XSLUMLORDX

2003-09-12 06:53:49 PM
What bands do you guys listen too I have never heard a Farker defend a single band ever mentioned on Fark...

2003-09-12 06:56:00 PM
I prefer some soothing Mongolian Yak Herding music.

2003-09-12 06:56:09 PM
HEY, Code_Archeologist

right back at ya. one no-talent ass clown deserves another.

2003-09-12 06:57:58 PM
Distrubed sucks? you can all hum on my balls. granted their live shows aren't up to par, though.

2003-09-12 07:01:55 PM
Tool > Disturbed > Manufactured Garbage

I actually own a disturbed cd, its not too bad. Tool rules them though...

2003-09-12 07:02:20 PM
OOOOH-WHAAAA-AA-AA-AAAH!!!!!!!
("lyric" from "Down With the Sickness")

2003-09-12 07:02:37 PM
Frank N. Furter really anybody can be a good studio band... you play a song 100 times you are bound to not fark it up once, and you record that one. But if a band cannot hold their own when they get on a live stage then fark'em, they aren't worth supporting.

2003-09-12 07:03:18 PM
XSLUMLORDX

Cash has more talent in his upraised middle finger than 10 of today's so-called "bands".

And that's a fact.

2003-09-12 07:04:10 PM
he's speaking out against the RIAA and you people give him shiat for it...classy, real farking classy. make up yer damned minds already. this isn't about his music, it's about his statement against the RIAA.

DISTURBED ROCKS!!!!

2003-09-12 07:05:49 PM
Your_Ticket_To_Hell: "The only reason he bashed the RIAA is because no one downloads their music anyways and he doesn't lose any money."

exactamundo. most "artists" who oppose the RIAA are the ones who arent gonna sell anything anyway. they just use it as a marketing tool.

suck-ass band #1457 announces they hate the RIAA in an effort to sell more records.
"Hey, my music sucks, but I hate the RIAA! buy my album!"

2003-09-12 07:06:09 PM
Stranglehold
Please prove your "fact"
ass

2003-09-12 07:06:42 PM
Disturbed isn't my favorite band, but I don't hate them either. David Draiman is college-educated, and he knows what he's talking about and how to articulate it. Go Disturbed!

2003-09-12 07:07:18 PM
anyone who can make a tears for fears song sound cool is a decent fellow

2003-09-12 07:07:57 PM
so code, are you saying nirvana was crap too? I think the only live show of them I ever seen around was unplugged in new york.

writing a good song is doubly harder than playing the good song.

2003-09-12 07:08:45 PM
I wonder WWFZD?

2003-09-12 07:09:53 PM
How cute, looks like we have a little lost AOL-er.

Go back to where you came from, XSLUMLORDX. Fark has not the time or the patience to deal with children with temper tantrums today. Thank you.

2003-09-12 07:10:02 PM
Why would a band speak out against the RIAA? I thought the RIAA was standing up for the musicians rights in this matter?

/confused

2003-09-12 07:10:23 PM
Yeah, that's what he does when he's not bragging about how much money hes making of his next album (hit parader interview, way back when)

2003-09-12 07:10:32 PM
Pete Hubca so you like Gary Jules then?

2003-09-12 07:10:37 PM
I'm not sure why more artists speak out; face it, the money made off of album sales dwarf in comparison to what they make off of touring and merchandise sales. Also, "fark the RIAA" is what music fans want to hear, not stupid crap like "you're taking money out of my kids mouth", regardless of how true that may be.

Oh well, I'm a tool. Nevermind

/trips over soapbox.

2003-09-12 07:11:11 PM
i meant unplugged in new york was the only good show
