Sorry, but I'm a little older than some of you, so some classic Queen usually brings Mommy out of a teenager induced funk. Deal with it.

Bron-Y-Aur Stomp by Led Zeppelin always brightens my mood.... The song is so happy and upbeat. But the best part is that he is singing about his dog- and I'll admit, I have my own unhealthy obsession with my darling Sadie (pic in profile)- so if I'm in a craptastic mood, I put this song on and dance around with my Sadie. I'm 100% certain that she loathes this entirely- but she tolerates it because she knows she's getting a dog cookie when the song ends.

Yes, I'm a nerd.... But hey, it makes me feel good! And Sadie too, but to a much lesser extent

The Headless Horseman's Headless Horse:
I haven't heard @80% of your songs listed but wanted to comment on your long list.

Take a Picture and Halo (my favorite song by this band and glad someone else recognized it), imho, are pretty dark tunes off equally dark albums. Interesting choices.

You made me want to listen to Never Let You Go and Elevation again. Elevation blaring on a pub jukebox + copious fermented beverages = I, dancing idiot. I presently can't think of a "happier" song.

The Great Salt Lake by Band of Horses makes me smile, it's not a happy or sad song in itself, but it just sounds really good to me.

Totally this. REM's "Fall on Me" always makes me smile... and "Kohoutek," thank goodness because there was a brief period where the name would conjure up personal crap that isn't worth a care anymore. A bunch of REM makes me happy... Slowdive makes me contemplative... Some Weezer, some Tragically Hip... and of course a lot of Beatles stuff.

Donovan makes me incredibly happy, too... The Hollies as well. I got to sing "Long Cool Woman (in a Black Dress)" at karaoke and had a blast.

2011-08-18 07:48:16 AM
Portishead... but that's a different type of happy. That happy is rawrs-related. Zep's "Whole Lotta Love," too. That's in the winky-winky-rawrs soundtrack.

Sometimes that's the case for me, but not always... I like remembering moments with my grandmother, for example. So if a song triggers that type of memory it makes me happy.
