Sheik was the guy who dropped the belt to Hogan, which started the Hulkamania/Rock and Wrestling era.

Also, Sheik was renamed "Col. Mustapha" in 1991, and teamed with Iraq Sympathizer Sgt. Slaughter to face Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior.

Hulkamania was born January 23, 1984 at Madison Square Garden in New York City when a 30-year-old Hulk Hogan soundly defeated the nefarious Iron Sheik to win his first World Wrestling Federation World Heavyweight Championship. Hogan would go on to defend the title against such dangerous foes as "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, King Kong Bundy, and Andre the Giant. He would hold the title until February, 1988 when "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase paid a referee to have plastic surgery to look exactly like referee Earl Hebner. This doppleganger then took Hebner's place and made a fake three-count as Andre pinned Hogan, thus awarding the strap to the French behemoth. DiBiase has also bribed the Giant, and Andre gave his cheapened title to DiBiase, a transaction that the honorable Jack Tunney nullified, which led to a Championship Tournament at WrestleMania IV, which was won by the late, legendary "Macho Man" Randy Savage.

Well a variety of reasons. Perhaps things just aren't bad enough to warrant such action, perhaps they are worried that military action will just make a bad situation worse, perhaps they are worried that such an action will get every last one of them thrown out of office next election.

Historically cracking down on riots and protests can sometimes create a sort of feedback loop that makes the situation about a hundred times worse then what it was before. The American Revolution for example probably wouldn't have gained such widespread support if the English hadn't started harshly punishing the colonies over the the earlier tax protests.

Aside from a similar general opposition to the idea of using soldiers to enforce criminal legislation that we have here in the United States, I suspect there's also some vague distaste for the idea of summarily executing the children of the poor, even if they are committing very serious crimes.

That said, armchair quarterbacking from over here, I get the impression that these kids have tested the electric fence and discovered that the power isn't on. The authorities really should have risen to meet this a little more swiftly and energetically, because now that these goons think they own the streets, it has the potential to lead to many more needless injuries and much worse violence than might otherwise occur if they'd been shown the consequences of their actions immediately.

Also, it does look like army units are being placed on alert.
