God I hate that intro. The slightly-too-long-pauses and her eyes constantly shifting down always irritates me. Yes, I realize it is kind of petty, but each time I watch it I get reminded of how much it bugs me.

As for the sequel- I'm pretty darn excited by this news.

/Cosmos is one of the best things for long flights (after xanax and/or Dramamine)

Carl Sagan would have wanted it that way.

I presume they will dedicate at least one full episode to discussing black holes.

And another about 'teaching the controversy' I'm sure.

If they did mandate that, though, either NDT would just walk or do it in the most smarmy
and insulting way possible.

Seth McFarlane seems like an odd choice...

So a network finally realized that producing these kinds of shows are cheaper then scripted shows, cheaper and less time consuming then reality shows, they can write off a portion has a community service, and it makes good PR. Now all they have to do is keep Fringe.

I'd just like to know who at that network Seth McFarlane is blowing for them to continue to air all those crappy shows of his.

This is just like the time Fox hired Mike Tyson to host Masterpiece Theater

Neil deGrasse Tyson is, I think, a great successor to Carl.

I prefer edibles or a tincture when travelling. :)
But to get anywhere in Big America from here takes most of your day, so the pills are always necessary.

And these episodes are going to be compressed to 41-42 minutes to squeeze as many commercials in as possible. I'll DVR it. I'm not watching 20 minutes of boner pill commercials on Fox.

Cosmos re-done in Family guy like the Star Wars would be Epic.

Pffft. Where you been, man? Advertisers rely much more on working their products into scripts than literal commercials these days. Remember that when they talk about the "Localized Linear Growth" model of the expanding universe.

NDT is no Sagan but if Ms. Druyan is involved I'll give it a go. Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors was awesome. I can't even get my wife to help with the yard work much less co-write a book.

Well, Druyan was a writer before they married, so that made it a bit easier.

I wonder if the Fox execs are aware that Cosmos is an introspective, intellectual discussion of man's place in the universe, and not an Odd Couple-like sitcom staring Nicole Sullivan and a talking dog?

I'm sure Seth Mcfarlane will find a way to ruin it. Probably with a few terrible musical numbers.

Amazing, yes. One way or another, I don't think there's any way they could possibly not make this amazing. Good, on the other hand, may be another story.

SCIENCE!

Only time will tell if that is better rendered as a Magnus Pyke impression or as a scream of pain.

In the article it says the idea came up when Seth Macfarlane met Carl Sagans wife. I don`t know how Macfarlane made Fox his biatch but any show he wants to make gets put on Fox.

still miffed about pluto.

DeGrasse Tyson is a hack whom I have no respect for. This is sad.

I'm expecting some non-sequitors about Benjamin Disraeli and a fighting chicken that stops the show to beat up NTD.

Pluto was demoted in 2006. Get over it already.

Using that definition and no other rules would make for HELL of a lot of planets. Including a number of moons and asteroids. Also...you're upset over a classification system that previously had no real standard?
