DRFTA

He's a Mormon. Maybe you should start there. My guess is that someone had some change left over from the Prop 8 stupidity and wanted to invest in a future handjob from Romney.

And, lets' face it, love or hate the guy, with a name like Mitt, you just know that's going to be a damn good handy.

From TFA: It was a company founded on March 15, which donated to the PAC on April 28, and dissolved on July 12. No one remembers the company existing at the address it listed on the filing.

[...] it's laundering money and hoping no one asks questions about it.

Pretty much.

Now, shut up and let your corporate overlords pick the next president.

yep.

I'm sure China is paying attention. They can spend a few hundred million dollars to put people in power that will do what they want and the public will never know. All we will see is the made up name that the NFP was given.

So that's the thing. Now that we don't get to know who contributes to whom, how can we ever know if laws are being broken? What's to prevent the LDS Church from essentially directly funding the Romney Campaign? What's to prevent foreign entities from directly funding campaigns?

That was my whole problem with all this anonymous super PAC stuff to begin with - If we can't know who is donating money, how would we know if they are legally allowed to or not?

Remember only months ago when people on the right was saying things like this would still be impossible under Citizen United ruling.

Between unlimited money from untracked resources and the Senate filibuster rules, we're kinda screwed. It worked out so well for Poland once upon a time with the Liberum veto and all of its Sejm/congress members being owned by different foreign interests (Austria, Germany, and Russia basically bribed members and told them how to vote and when to veto) that Poland ceased to exist as a country for a long while.

2011-08-04 12:37:48 PM
Thank you Citizens United holding, for protecting the unlimited free speech of Real Americans. Or foreigners. Anyone with money. That's what's really important here.
