Of course, she already learned the greatest life lesson: Everybody dies

Nope. She didn't need to learn any lessons. She had that 'addict' thing down quite well.

Yeah, Lady Gaga, that's because someone put a gun to her head and forced her to be a junkie piece of shiat with minimal talent.

So there's a chance Lady Gaga will go the same route? This is great news.

I wont lie. I lold at the headline. And god I wish this woman would stop talking. The only thing that prevents me from enjoying some of her music, is everything she does when shes not performing her music.

I hate to say it, but I agree with Gaga about people needing to learn to treat people in the public eye better. Not that I necessarily have a ton of pity for talented, rich, young, mostly attractive people who have tons of success and repeated opportunities; but because I think it's bad for people individually and society as a whole to have a default reaction of "I want to bring that person down to my level" or whatever it is.

Amy Winehouse definitely had opportunities to learn some things. I'm sure she did learn some things, like drugs and alcohol used indiscriminately are not a recipe for a fulfilling life. She was obviously not able to learn how to deal with that realization in time to save her life. Gaga, on the other hand, could use some crack in her life.

It's a good thing nobody is saying Amy Winehouse needed to learn a lesson. They're saying the public could learn a lesson from her, you plastic-coated moran.

Don't you guys know how the entertainment industry works? You steal other people's ideas and claim them as your own until you get caught. Then you call it an homage.

You know what really pisses me off about Lady Gaga? It's that I can't tell if she's attractive or not. A picture will pop up of her wearing something halfway normal and not looking like a demon vampire lady boy with horns growing out the top of her head and I'll think, meh, I'd lob it in her. Anyone else facing this conundrum?

Although the autopsy and toxicology reports have yet to verify things, from all current appearances Amy Winehouse died from one of the most preventable causes of death known to humanity. If she truly didn't need to learn any lessons, she would not have died this way.

2011-08-03 05:28:01 PM
I think Lady Gaga is right in that the question is stupid. It's a childish need for everything to be some sort of pedagogy. How many of the people who want tsk tsk tsk and wag a finger at Winehouse (or Lady Gaga, for that matter) accomplish in all their years a fraction what she did in her few?

What she needed to learn was her limit on the amount of drugs she can take and alcohol she can drink without dying. That was the lesson she needed to learn.

Sometimes it isn't the amount, but the combination. And sometimes you can take more or less than you used to be able to, either because your tolerance was previously higher or lower or because you were previously in better or worse health. Abuse drugs if you like, but there is no safe way to do it. There are ways that are safer than others, but you can never be sure.

Even my daughters know she hasn't done anything Madonna, Bette or Cher didn't do before. She's more of a MilliVanilli kind of talent becepts she actually sings.

She's more like Marilyn Mason, in my opinion. In both cases it's not like the individual elements hadn't been done before. In both cases it amounts to an over-saturation of shock showmanship. And in both cases I think that it's obviously and clearly supposed to be intentional. In both, whether you agree or disagree with the statement, it's a statement in and of itself. Personally, I think of her career, comparing her original approach and now, as a living example of the intro to Read A Book (new window) I don't think she's quite so scathing in her indictment, but I think it's pretty obvious. And the fact that like Manson most of her fans seem to love her for exactly that shock showmanship, even if they only keep listening because she has at least some modicum of actual musical talent...I don't know what that says. I really don't.

I suggest if they don't like how they get treated then they should not do their utmost to get into the public eye in the first place. I do feel sorry for the children of celebs since they didn't ask to be famous, everyone else, suck it up, it is the price you pay for what you wanted.

Indeed. And pretty girls should pay for being attractive. Jesus fark, I don't really give a damn either way, but for farks sake your argument is absurd. No matter how someone acts, there is a right way and a wrong way to react. Let's try a completely separate example. Being a cop is an incredibly high stress job that generally involves dealing with the worst of society. I generally don't care for them, but do I have zero pity for them because they chose to live that life? Can I not call them out for actual failures while still offering sympathy for the fact that it really is a difficult job? Jesus wept. I'm generally not going to lose any sleep over rich people's problems, but for farks sake, acting like they have no right to stress or worry or whatever simply because they're rich is easily as stupid as...as...for fark's sake I can't even come up with a good analogy. fark you. That's how stupid it is. For the love of Mike, if they weren't the type to stress, worry, and obsess over things they probably wouldn't end up being successful to begin with. Hurrrrrr i can't pay my phone bill this month, *That*'s a real problem and you don't see me getting all bent out of shape about it, screw those rich farks! Idiocy. Sheerest idiocy.

Lady Gaga is ok with me, not that I own anything of hers. As for this whole copying thing.... everybody copies everybody. She not the risk taker like Bjork or Kate Bush musically speaking, but whatever she's doing is working as far as fame. I think she is playing the game instead of the game playing her...which is where Gaga is no Winehouse.
