Dust can move like a fluid. The theory that it has a tidal-lock has been around for decades.

Take a look
It's in a book
A Reading Rainbow

Article sidesteps this with "Nobody has ever been able to explain with certainty why the moon should be so lopsided," which is a joke. No one can explain anything with certainty. That's the whole point of uncertainty calculations.

I get the feeling that journalism is still in its infancy as a field.

Yes, grues don't steal moons, they eat unsuspecting adventurers who forget to bring a flashlight.

Yeah, did the scientist who came up with the theory get discredited already, or what?

Did a google search for it and found a couple of blogs that reposted it. Also found a link to a yahoo news report on it that has been pulled. My guess is that alien masters on the cloacked moon were not happy with this line of research.

Max and Monica uncovered the reason there were two moons already. Sirus dealt with the Star of Oblivion, and now there's only one moon.

The article linked to two plausible explanations, thereby demonstrating there is a debate. What more do you want?
